This kid looks like he has game. Wonder what the staff’s pitch to him is? Not like he’s gonna come in and start but he would really be nice running the second unit behind James and maybe occasionally rolling with him when we wanna throw 2 true PG’s out there

Why do we need another short guard for 2019? We don't! Perhaps Jaden Robinson can back up Akinjo, and if the whole team improves its ball handling, we will be fine!
I'm still looking for a freshman 6'5-6'6 sg/sf to join us.

PG who's 52% from the line? Oof. FYI, those stats are from his freshman year. Apparently averaged 16pts, 4 rebs and 10 assists this past season, shot 50/37/68 from fg/3pt/FT.

Sloan has been heavily recruited and plans official visits to Kansas State, West Virginia, Iowa State, Georgetown and Wichita State.
Solid list.

We just don’t know the motivation behind some of the JUCO recruiting. Ewing has it under control seemingly.

I wish they showed more of what the 9 assists per game is about, but I like it.. Seems like a better skilled Dickerson. Young man has a burst and plays at breakneck speed. You also don't average a double-double by accident. 10 APG is impressive at any level. Don't know about the fit but the staff knows more then we do. If you want to play fast, having Sloan will only help to reach that goal. I really hope the staff is also pursuing his teammate, freshman Jay Scrubb. He'll be the #1 JUCO in the country next season. He was an NJCAA First Team All American this past season. A 6'6" highly athletic left-handed wing who just gets BUCKETS...

I would agree that a bigger guard with good 3 point range seems to be more of a need on the current roster, but having another quick/fast guard with good ball handling skills, who can also score the ball (at the JUCO level) is never a bad thing. The college game is certainly trending toward quicker perimeter players these days. There are so many moving parts involved in building a roster for a D1 college basketball team these days it is hard to really know the logic behind each move. Would have to think this players decision making process will be fairly quick because some players are going to be reporting back to schools for the summer session in less than 2 months.

At the end of his junior year in 2016, David Sloan had the following offers:
Louisville Tennessee Missouri Iowa St Memphis Butler Samford EKU KWC WKU SE Missouri State
People were touting him as one of the leading contenders for Kentucky high school player of the year for 2017. After reading through a few threads at bluegrasspreps.com, it sounds like he transferred high schools during his junior year to follow his coach away from Louisville, then he transferred back home to a different school in Louisville for his senior year but was not permitted to play by the conference, so he had to transfer to a different prep school in Florida in order to play his senior year. People mentioned that he likely got poor advice from his coaches about where he could play based on their own interests. The speculation is that it's possible he potentially wasn't cleared by the NCAA clearinghouse, not necessarily because of his grades, but likely because of the transfer of credits between his high schools.

If the kid had 1 year to play, then maybe. It looks like he has 2 years, so no way. He is not a BE level talent and we are on so many skilled kids.

If he is really coming on an official visit you have to think the staff is serious about him. Isn't there a limit on how many official visits a school can offer to recruits each year. I wouldn't think they would waste an official visit if they didn't think he could help the team, especially this late in the team building process for next year.

Wonder if this means we're out for Cole, or if this is simply a back up plan if he goes elsewhere. Hoping the latter.

Just wondering what you might have seen that the coaches from Kansas State, West Virginia, Iowa State, Georgetown, and Wichita State haven't seen yet.

He has a decent looking stroke from deep, but he is small without much bounce. He won’t be able to drive successfully in BE play. Even James had trouble finishing and this kid doesn’t have his handle.

Yes, FT percentage a concern. I would just foul him repeatedly at the end of a close game.

Largely meh on this one. Seems to be an excellent facilitator but I don't think he'll contribute much scoring wise unless his ability really translates to the BE. The speed is there but thats about it. Apparently he's a pesky defender which could definitely help against smaller guards we struggle with. That said this doesn't look like a program changing recruitment. He could definitely have a role on this team but I see him as more of a complimentary piece than anything at this level.

I dunno - haven't watched a second. But the one stat that's going to translate pretty concretely at any level (FT) is not so solid. My initial thought about getting a PG is that I'd rather have one that'll be around after James is gone. So... a 4-year kid, whether that's a '19 or a '20 guy. This kid seems like a backup to Akinjo for the next two years - which is nice, but maybe not our most pressing need.
