I’m intrigued. I like the 60 steals. Smooth athlete with good size. Not very good 3pt shooter for now, but shot form looks ok and hits his free throws.

That three percentage is very concerning. We need shooters and if he’s not hitting them in JUCO he’s sure as hell not going to in the Big East.

Some of his other stats do catch the eye. He hits 77% of free throw attempts, showing he can shoot. He hits well over 60% of his 2-pt field goal attempts on about 9 attempts per game. His assist/turnover ratio is almost 3. And he had 77 steals, 8 blocks, and 241 rebounds in 32 games as a guard while fouling only 49 times suggesting controlled aggression.

IIRC, in JUCO, Mulmore was an average 3-pt shooter who got his points in the paint and from the FT line. These offensive numbers look similar to Mulmore’s numbers coming out of JUCO. Just like wih Mulmore, I like his slashing, but the BE requires 3-pt shooting guards for the team to be successful.

Sounds like PE and staff are looking for dogs to bring to the fight! Furthermore, he'd be a good replacement for Mosely, but we still need a SF for next year.

Maybe Coach Ewing thinks Evans resembles one of coach's old teammates, Gene Smith.

Maybe Coach Ewing thinks Evans resembles one of coach's old teammates, Gene Smith. Or maybe an more experienced Lester Quinones?

Shouldn’t we be discussing this on a JUCO 2019 thread?

From this video he kind of reminds me of Damian Baugh...6'4 PG, very fast/gets steals and great size as defender on the perimeter (somewhat like McKnight of Seton Hall) who can penetrate and dish and can shoot it fairly well...we can use size and defensive help at the guard spot when most teams have a Powell, Booth, or Howard...but we still need the all around SF who can do it all on both ends...

Was reading that the Utah coach just flew out to recruit him as well. www.spokesman.com/stories/2019/feb/19/rayquan-evans-draws-interest-from-big-colleges-as-/Evans, one of three Native American guards helping boost the top-ranked Cardinals (24-2, 13-0 East Region), recently de-committed from Utah State.
Utah and Colorado are among the biggest schools pursuing him, Evans said.
“Utah State is a good program with a great coaching staff,” said Evans, who led NIC to an NWAC title last year. “But I’ve come this far, so why not try and go farther?”
If NIC coach Corey Symons didn’t make a late push for Evans two years ago, Evans said he’d likely be living at home in Billings and playing at Rocky Mountain College.
He’s now one of the most coveted junior college players in the country, according to JucoRecruiting.com – a distinction often reserved for metropolitan and overseas talent.
Evans, a member of the Crow Tribe, is neither.www.jucorecruiting.com/2019-juco-basketball-top-100-rankings#65 for 2019

I trust Pat's talent evaluation. (He's certainly earned it thus far) This kid from the video's looks like can play, and his J looks good.
Love that Pat is scouring the whole country for talent, even to the ever popular northern part of idaho

How does Pat continue to get so "lucky" with these recruits that fit team needs? Great pickup! Think we're down to one schollie. Will be interesting how we play it given Jagan is a senior army of one. Have to believe that this one was in the bag awhile ago, so it wouldn't surprise me if another transfer is coming our way. Jagan has Yurtseven but another "seasoned player" would be nice to add stability and help push this team in to the post season.

Impressed! High arch on his shots like Pickett, handles the ball well, can shoot it. Welcome to the Hilltop, young man!

friends: we got ourselves a player here. Love his footwork, his ability to handle, his athleticism, his ability to finish at the rim...we got just what the doctor ordered. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him get heavy minutes at the 3 and 4 spots.

Even with Alexander committed I hope we’re still recruiting Evans. I think we need a bigger guard that can play defense and he fits the bill. I think he has some upside as well.
