I would be remiss if I did not recognize a class move by Jay Wright pregame: he and Ewing were talking and then Pat pointed at the baseline. Jay shook his hand then half ran (as fast as a guy with a slim fit GQ style suit with the jacket buttoned can) to JTJr and spent a couple minutes talking to him. Jay is a truly great guy. He's a neighbor of mine and still very down to earth and charismatic. Only thing that annoys me about him is he walks in the building politicking to the refs. He just never stops with those guys, and as a result it seems like Nova gets an inordinate amount of favorable calls. Pat is getting close to the right balance on this front; still wish he'd whine a little more, but it's just not his nature. Agree with your thoughts on Jay. Good guy but it's gotten to the point that he seems to feel he's entitled to every call. He's either whining or smiling sarcastically; he's wrong in most cases. Post game, however, he is invariably gracious (also afflicted with the coachspeak stammer).

I don't know if has been brought up before, but don't forget Johnson. He came up huge for us in this game. Must have had at least 2-3 offensive rebounds. I thought that the best moment of the game last night was the ovation the fans gave the second unit when Pat sent the starters back in with 4-5 minutes to go. It was also an affirmation that Pats sub patterns have really begun to work. Not that there was any any doubt hereabouts....right?

Watched the highlights. Amazing how much quicker Mac is during the first 10 minutes of a game than he is the rest of the way. Obviously fatigue is a factor and maybe ankle too. But when he comes out on fire it is a great sign. I think Macs ankle sprain is worse than a lot of people realized. He was much more explosive earlier in the season. Hopefully in the off season this year he will get back to 100% and be a junk yard dog next year.

A few notes:
1. After the Seton Hall game, I said "burn the tape." A few posters disagreed, but that's exactly what Coach Ewing did. The team was well prepared. 2. At every live look in and throughout the game, Coach Ewing was emphasizing rebounding. At one point, Gus and Raf said something like, "I don't think these kids can understand what it means when Patrick Ewing says to rebound the ball." Still, Jessie's rebounding and his and-one's were critical at the start of the second half. 3. I thought the ball movement and the off-the-ball movement was excellent, especially in the first half. 4. The defense was better, but Villanova also missed some good looks. 5. It was truly a team win. Everyone who got in the game made a meaningful contribution.

I thought Trey's 3-pointer was also big, after Nova had scored on two consecutive trips.
Of course then he got a little shot-happy🙄

Could we also give Blair a standing ovation? Gave great minutes yesterday. Huge 3 and huge pass to Greg for 3. Both at a crucial time

Being there and being part of that unspoken movement that flows through a crowd when something remarkable but usually not 100% obvious becomes clear to the majority, and seemingly spontaneous recognition flows from the crowd to the players... it's great to experience and rewarding all around.

I thought Trey's 3-pointer was also big, after Nova had scored on two consecutive trips. Of course then he got a little shot-happy🙄 Trey's biggest problem at this point is that he's shot-happy every time he touches the ball, which is selfish, but at this point it is what it is. Hopefully he can give us decent backup minutes for Govan the rest of the way.

Well not every time, he did have a nice assist last night. So maybe 80% of the time.
I blame JTIII. Trey has 3 years worth of shots stored up.😉

Or if he's hitting the offensive glass and is near the rim. When it involves him putting the ball on the floor and beating someone with a post move in traffic, it never ends well. Hoping at some point he understands the difference in being effective, not trying to do more than he's capable and playing to his strengths. His fellow senior Kaleb figured it out two months ago, so it's possible.

Felt great to beat them. A good Hoyas team is great for the Big East and college basketball. They should wear black for all their home games lol.

I have no problem with this, but if one is GOING to come to the game, why come so late? I get that a 6:30 start is tough (I pretty much have to take a day off to get there) but seems a bit more effort and planning could help. We had no Problems with entry lines either (granted we got there by 6). It just baffles me. As an old retired fart, I drove in from Delaware a day early to ensure that weather would not be a factor and met another old retired fart at Clyde's at 5 pm to have some whiskey and a meal. In the arena right at the anthem. As a retiree, I can do this. Those who still work merely need to do minimal planning to be there on time. It ain't that tough! Even before I retired I was always on time, even when trekking out to the old Capital Centre in the good ol' days. It's good to know that Clyde's is now a haven for old retired farts.

Is it that or just that it's incredibly convenient when you're already there for the game?
