Akinjo is almost too confident in his handle...the tie up and that last foul he drew were bad decisions, dribbling through traffic... It wasn't good that time but worked to waste that last possession. I'm ok with him trusting his handle. He's really, really good with his handle but he still takes the air out of the ball more than necessary at times. Trusting his teammates a little more will make him more effective overall and should come with more experience.

I have been on the road and have missed the last few games. Tonight I was hitting refresh constantly on my phone for two hours. Hoya Saxa -- congrats to the team and the staff for getting that signature win.

One first week of this month was watched in UConn territory in hotel bar after requesting to have the game put on.

Kaleb with a huge game, picked up foul troubled Josh. 8/8 Kaleb is back to his old self, or getting close. His offensive boards are great to see.

I know I said I’d take losses the rest of the way if we could win tonight but.... now I’m greedy! Let’s keep it going Sat.
Things could get very interesting quickly...

Team. Effort. Signature. Win.
We knew it was going to take a total team effort to win tonight, and the guys showed some serious mental strength for about 38 minutes. The listless pathetic effort we saw last week was nowhere to be found; our guys played hard and for the most part smart. For the first time under this regime, you got the feeling that this team knew it was capable of more and was angry it didn't accomplish it. We played with some fight tonight for the first time in awhile and it showed on the court.
Thought the pivotal moment of the game was when Nova tried to throw a punch to get back into the game early in the 2nd half. The much-maligned Jessie Govan, who most importantly was a man on the boards tonight, put together two back-to-back and-1's to not only slow down Nova's momentum but maintain the lead when the freshman guard were making some mistakes early in the half. Tonight is what I want to see every night from Govan in terms of hitting the glass.
Paschall made up his mind all night that he was going to be aggressive in taking it to the rim and overpowering anyone who wanted to get in his way. The one guy I thought matched his physical intensity and kept him from doing what he wanted to do on the offensive end was Kaleb. A big, big shoutout to Kaleb and the defensive effort he put forth tonight. He gave up a lot of size and strength but battled his ass off all night. A true senior effort.
Two other guys who really made great contributions tonight with not only a couple of spot plays but most importantly their decision making: Jiggy and Juggy. Didn't really see either force anything or make some glaring errors: rather, they were a steadying presence on the floor tonight which was huge. Mosely in particular was solid with the ball and creating for others.
The freshman guards were productive on the offensive end and there was far more good than bad, but we've got to be concerned about the decision-making against the press in the final 2:30. We can't let a team like Nova extend the game like that. The execution at the end of the first half was extremely poor; should have gone into the half no worse than +12 and hopefully +14. I'm relieved that giving up the 2 late buckets to allow Nova to cut it to 10 didn't hurt as much as it could have.
A big thumbs up to Ewing for getting his guys ready to play tonight. Whatever the reason was for laying an egg at SHU last week, he pushed the right buttons to get his team properly motivated with the belief that a strong and sustained effort would get it done.

Some shakiness closing out both halves notwithstanding, this was easily the Hoyas best and most complete performance of the season.

So honestly, If we win out do we make the Tourney? Honestly, I think we're high bubble because of that road game @marquette and we'd be 21-10. Good weekend at BET puts us in.

Loved how the second teamers came in and extended the lead while giving the starters a rest. GU never let 'Nova get on a roll after cutting the lead down to six early in the second half, and the game stayed at a double-digit margin over the last ten minutes.
The kids are growing up. There will still be growing pains, but these Hoyas are a team that no one is going to look forward to playing in the Big East Tournament. And as for next year...the sky is the limit.

So honestly, If we win out do we make the Tourney? No question since that would include a BET Championship . That said, if we beat Marquette and only lose once more in the BET, I think we have a strong argument for the tournament. The talking heads will definitely be over-focusing on our OOC though. At this point, we can only go one game at a time! No more letdowns.

Props to Jessie for his work on the boards, a huge factor. When Mac gets cooking like that, he’s a handful. James with another big assist game and made shots to boot. Kaleb was a beast filling in for a foul plagued Josh. Man, that one felt great!
