The Hoyas led for 37 minutes and 33 seconds tonight.

I think I started to really believe it was the Hoyas night tonight when Mosley stuffed Booth at the end of the shot clock in the 1st half. That was veteran leadership saying "We are here to play tonight!".

First game v NOVA, Mac and Jesse COMBINED for 4 points. 4 measley points! This game? They totaled 42 pts together. Quite a difference. Those two guys looked determined to show what they could do - and they did.
In addition, the entire Hoya team came to play tonight and each one contributed. If they can play close to this level for the remainder of the season and the BET, some fun days lie ahead.

Watched the highlights. Amazing how much quicker Mac is during the first 10 minutes of a game than he is the rest of the way. Obviously fatigue is a factor and maybe ankle too. But when he comes out on fire it is a great sign.

Of note: we are 3-for-3 in the second matchup against teams that beat us the first go around (SJ, NOVA, X), lets make that four this Saturday I think we are 1 and 1 against teams that we beat the 1st time....(Provy & Butler)....so we have to be focused after we beat DePaul....lol

Really great win! As ill prepared we seemed against Seton Hall, it was the complete opposite tonight. Everybody had a lot of intensity, and while we made some mistakes, we kept the heat up and played some better defense, and it worked out well! We did give Villanova a lot of open shots, but that's still something to work on and doesn't take away from the great win. We only allowed Villanova 1.03 points per possession, and scored 1.20 on offense, so that's great on both sides of the ball.
Easily Patrick Ewing's best win as a coach, so I am happy for him there, too.
Kaleb Johnson is sort of the unsung hero. After barely playing in the OOC during the first part of the season, he's been an excellent role player for us down the stretch. Considering he started last year, and now has a smaller role, he's really seemed to embrace it and play to the max. LeBlanc needs to watch those fouls, though.
Govan had an outstanding game. The criticism Govan has faced in the last few weeks made his good game all the more sweet tonight. The guy has given Georgetown a lot over the last four years, and he deserves a lot of the great for a great game tonight. His O rating for the game was 153. Pretty excellent.
Really nobody had a bad game tonight. Pickett struggled from the field, but he does seem to be playing better defense and have more confidence. Now, he needs to get the shots to go in.
Creighton Saturday will be tough, but if we come out strong, we have a chance, just as we had tonight. KenPom projects us as 8-10 now. If we can steal a less likely win against Creighton or Marquette (or 2 from DePaul and Seton Hall), then 9-9 and NIT is very doable.

Just finished watching. A brilliant job all around from the players, the staff and the crowd. Gotta give our guys confidence down the stretch.

After the Xavier win, I thought the Hoyas could rack up 7 more wins -- but started to lose faith after we dropped that game to SHU. Shows what I know! My delusions are back in full force.
If I was an opposing fan, I would not want to see Georgetown in the BET. Our boys can clearly take any team in the BE on the right day.
Feels like this is a season of vanquishing demons -- taking down Providence at the Dunk, convincingly beating Xavier, and now whooping Villanova for the first time in way too long. Let's keep it rolling to a winning record, a strong showing in the BET, and let the chips fall where they may after that.

Thoroughly enjoyable made all the sweeter by knowing how many bitter Main Liners are on the way home sad... Almost as much fun as the win was catching the 10 pm Amtrak heading north with about 2 dozen dejected Main Liners.

Hopefully with a few more wins this won't even be an issue, but the win tonight goes a long way in avoiding the useless Wednesday night game at the BET, too.

http://instagr.am/p/BuICYjqhO3p Pay close attention to the Nova players that stand up from the bench every time Mac touches the ball. Even they can't resist LOL! I saw this a couple times too and was confused lol Honestly had to look again and make sure the Hoyas were in the dark colored jerseys. They were applauding him as much as his own teammates.

I think it's their way of showing confidence that their teammates' defense will prevail with a missed shot by the opponent, followed up with a defensive rebound.

Glad to be wrong about the crowd. Atmosphere was great. Big props to student turnout as well.
Loved Jessie today. Offensively solid per usual but defensively was much more active. Good on the glass. More controlled hedges in pick roll, less trapping the ballhandler, better recovery and stayed away from lazy fouls. Great game from him.
Great team defense today in general. I havent looked at what the analytics say, but just felt like we were stringing together stops which led to strong rebounding, quick outlets and either transition buckets or uptempo halfcourt sets.
Only 1 game but it would be a great time to see this team gel a little late in the season. With so many late season swoons in previous years, seeing a team grow late in season would be the next step in the climb back.

Yet another example of a great game plan in a rematch game. Best team defense all year. Villanova thrives on higher percentages 3s taken right at the line and in the short corner; virtually all of them were contested and rushed. Hoyas dared Bey to shoot them: after making one he clanked 5 in a row IIRC and at the end of the game every time the ball came to him he hit potatoed it to another guy. Villanova is a surprisingly bad transition defensive team and the Hoyas gashed them repeatedly.
I though Akinjo had a particularly great game - his (and others) D on Booth had Booth off balance all night. 10 points, 9 assists (that drop pass to Govan for the dagger 3!) and 2 steals is a great stat line.
Students brought it big time. Loved it. Season ticket holders? Meh. I know it’s a 6:30 start but come on - if I can make it by game time from Boston you have no excuse for dribbling in with 5 minutes left in the first half. Don’t talk about a snowstorm: the streets were clear and there was virtually no traffic. Most everything was closed yesterday. Props to the team for using their own motivation to get rolling before the full crowd showed up. Once everyone got there the atmosphere was great. Why not make more of an effort to get there for the tip?
Playing the second unit significant minutes together is starting to pay off.
Malinowski’s 3 was a huge momentum play.
Finally, the final score was not at all indicative of the game. This one was not in doubt from very early on and it wasn’t close. But it starts on the defensive end.
