Puts to rest all those who complained about PE OOC opponents. PE knew he had to build the program before taking on the bigs and this shows that he expects that next year he will have done so. As excited I am about this year's team and look forward to a deep BET run I can't wait for next year when PE will have in place the pieces he wanted and the type of team he loves. Hopefully we get a small forward who can score off the dribble. Check that box and we are really formidable next year.

This is old news. Why is Casual reporting it again today?

Great news. I hope we draw Duke so we can beat them. They'll for sure be weaker than they are this year.

This is old news. Why is Casual reporting it again today? The rumors came out in May, today the field was "officially" announced. Agreed that most of us knew about this long ago.

nypost.com/2019/03/12/shamorie-ponds-plans-to-make-definitive-nba-decision/All along the expectation was this would be Shamorie Ponds’ final season in Queens, and with his junior year nearing its conclusion, it doesn’t appear like anything has changed. In a phone interview Monday, his father, Shawn, told The Post the family will make a decision when the season is over, but they do not plan to have him test the NBA draft waters as he did last year. Ponds will either sign with an agent and go pro or return to St. John’s for his senior season. “It’ll be a definite decision after the season is over,” Shawn Ponds said. “We’re doing one thing or the other. … Right now, let’s see how he finishes up.” A source within the program said the expectation is the 6-foot-1 Ponds will go pro, which is why the coaching staff signed junior college point guard Cam Mack.

I expect Ponds, Howard and Powell all to at least test the NBA waters and most likely all of them leave after this year. Not sure what else those three have to prove in college. I think they all have some limitations to their games (size for Howard and Ponds) and I don't think any of them are first round draft picks, but I am not sure how they would improve their NBA stock with another year in college. All 3 have proven they are big time scorers and playing one more year in college just gives scouts more of an opportunity to pick their games apart, or to risk injury.

With only one senior on the team this year who is playing a lot of minutes, MU will be loaded with one more year of experience and I could see Howard sticking around to make a run to the Championship. The same goes for Powell and SHU with only Nzei graduating. Not sure about Ponds with SJU's yearly turnover, but Clark is the only senior player... As it looks now, the three teams will be stronger next year.

Ponds is gone, because that is the way it goes at SJU. I could see Powell coming back just like the seniors did last year for SHU. Howard the same. It depends what a degree is worth to them, their own financial situation and the chance to play for something bigger. All 3 will make money playing baskteball, but not in the NBA, so is it worth rushing to be pro if they are enjoying college? We will see.

Well, just because they won't make money in the NBA doesn't mean that they don't THINK they will make money in the NBA.

I know Nova got a share of the BE crown but weren't their more deserving coaches? Willard, Steele, Wojo, and Ewing all come to mind....

Maybe if he hadn’t pitched that childish fit end game, Wojo would have had it. Wright is truly a great coach though: watching the last ten minutes of the Nova/Marquette game, I was amazed. Coming off three losses in a row, he got those kids to play with an intensity you rarely see, they would not be denied. Now of course he is starting to bring in 5 star recruits som it will be no easier for the rest of the BE. Which is great- I see a resurgence of the WHOLE league coming, this time without the driftpins like Syracuse, Pitt et all. You know, basketball schools only!

Not a very good player on a bad team. Shouldn’t be a major loss for Cooley.
