What Patrick Ewing is doing is just AMAZING !!!! This team is getting better and better even with its limitations. The way the team is playing is just AMAZING !!!!. For those NBA Owners that think they know basketball, they completely missed on a great BASKETBALL COACH. And if you are a recruit and you want to play in the NBA a great system while in college, just look at Georgetown and learn. Fixed it for you..

Adding another guard next year could help (most of the top PGs and SGs are committed, but combo guard with PG chops could fit).
Also need to fill in for bigs to rest Derrickson and Govan, but also have for the future. There are roster spots and there are players who can fit the needs still out there.
Walker and Morning don't fit the big need, they can rebound, but serious box out and muscle isn't what either does. We have been watching Walker and he is still sorting his spot and fit as athletic, but not great inside offense nor defense at the moment and no stretch shooting. Walker will improve. Morning isn't his dad as is a very different player with very different skills and body, more of a with who can provide solid rebounding, but not an inside guy.
Derrickson and Goven are good inside and more, I keep seeing a gap behind them and not sure what is coming in behind them. Nights like to night having two deep behind them would be good, but it is tough having Derrickson out of the game as his defense is solid, as are his boards, passing, and shooting (also all the little things that many players never get to in their careers).

Haven’t read the thread tonight yet. A couple of reactions:
Very happy for Dickerson to tell some of his critics to SU. You gotta believe in yourself.
Why do we keep running that same inbound play when under pressure. It is not working for us too frequently.
Gritty win for the team.
MD is the man.

Such a shame Dickerson is such a bad free throw shooter. He is by a large margin the best ballhandler we have. At the end of games that we lead, we will surely see the full court presses. Trust Blair and Mulmore much more from the ft line, but obviously not breaking the press. But I nitpick. GREAT WIN BOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hear you but our pg play is so suspect that slowing the game down when you know opponent is gong to press just invites turnovers. With better ball handlers sure run some clock but I think (and I think PE knows) that if you have the shot take it. BS!! Do you really want a team that is averaging 17 turnovers a game (and bleeding turnovers in the second half of this game) trying to run some clock in a madhouse like Hinkle? We're not Nova or Xavier or Creighton or even St. John's with a guard who you can count on to run the game. You could smell the half court press coming. Sorry, I know it may seem stupid but with this team right now I'll try to score until I'm up 4 with 10 seconds left.

We need another ball handler and 5. We’re already bringing in a PF in Carter, and Walker and Mourning are both 4’s. Ewing uses Derrickson as a small ball 5 and Kaleb plays the 4 in that small lineup, (although I anticipate he loses those minutes to some of the others) but a PG and a C would round out the roster pretty nicely.

This was a great win. I'm not sure what got into Dickerson tonight, but thank goodness it did, as we don't win without his performance. That said, we were quite fortunate that Butler's starters shot 1-16 on three point shots. I also hate to keep harping on this, but I have to note that Wideman (great name for a big) got offensive rebounds with 3:01, 2:03 and :51 left in the game. Down the stretch, he rebounded practically every missed shot. So I ask yet again, why can't we get defensive rebounds with the game on the line? But despite that, we won, so all is good.
I agree with the comments about Pickett's early three point shots down the stretch. I attribute this to freshman error. Pickett has come a long way over the last few weeks, I have no doubt that he will learn from this, and fortunately, we won, so all is good.
I predicted 3-15 after the DePaul loss, and I'm thrilled to have been proven wrong. The improvement in this team is remarkable. We've gone toe to toe with Creighton, Xavier, Seton Hall, Providence and Butler in our last five games, and that's something I would not have anticipated even a few weeks ago.

That board had melted down against LaVall Jordan in the 1st game until they came back to win Also they are on a 3 game losing streak in the Big East and fans should be concerned as they may not make the NCAAT Tonight's loss was a Tier 3 loss for them.

We're so fortunate Butler doesn't shoot well from outside against us. Man it sucks we gave up some o boards. It's almost as if we close out on their shooters and let them go one-on-one in the paint unless Martin works his way into the lane. Nah, we probably just got lucky from outside and suck inside.

A few weeks ago I described Ewing's performance this year as "meeting expectations." Basically he had won the games I expected him to win, and that was it. This week, he really moved into the "exceeds expectations" column for me regardless of what happens the rest of the way. Beating SHU and Butler in back to back games shows that he can meet the demands of getting a team ready for each game in the Big East. Both of these teams are NCAA teams. Both present unique challenges. Ewing got his team through both. Just a great job. Now to get ready for Xavier.

Plus/minus for tonight's game, as calculated from the play-by-play posted at guhoyas.com:
Johnson +15, Mulmore +5, Blair +4, Govan +4, Derrickson +3, Dickerson +1, Walker +1, Pickett even, Mosely -13, Hines DNP/coach's decision, Muresan DNP/coach's decision.
