Hopefully our win yesterday will make this thread a little livelier.

Although it is in their arena, we are playing better than the first game, when we should have won but fell in OT. We need better focus on defense, but it is a winnable game.

I firmly believe they're all winnable now. Come out with a good gameplan, they adjust, we adjust as much as we can with our limited personnel and then hang on for dear life and someone makes a play. I think dchoya called it early in the year that this would be the pattern. Only difference is now the Hoyas can do it against top teams and not just borderline teams.
Should be another heart attack so let's end up on the good side.

It will be played in the same arena in which Hickory beat South Bend Central.

Take away threes.
Rebound!
Touches for Jessie and Marcus.
Limit TOs, especially bad ones.
Game is there for the taking.

Should be a barn burner of a Big East Tournament.

We don't want to elevate our expectations too much , but 2 or even 3 more wins are definitely a possibility. Would like to win a game or two in NYC.

Agreed, especially since we are playing much better down the stretch.

Butler has looked really good recently, this is winnable, but not likely IMO. We have to slow them down as they could've beat Xavier and Nova after dominating performances against Marquette, DePaul and St. John's. Butler has gotten much better since then and I don't expect anything other than a top performance from them.

We could/should have beaten Xavier on the road, and they are better than Butler.

I'm keeping my eye on our Hoyas. They are playing better as a team, and perhaps with the win against Seton Hall they can operate with more collective confidence and team chemistry. Perhaps anything is not possible, but I think that with every game they, the team and coaching staff, are exceeding the expectations of many. Onward and upward. Go Hoyas.

Granted they lost them to the best teams but still it isn't as if they are actually playing better ball than they were when they beat the Hoyas (followed not too long after with a victory against Villanova). The Hoyas on the other hand have made marked improvement since the first clash. Butler should be favored but the Hoyas shouldn't be intimidated by them. I'll take the Hoyas top three or four players over Butler's. Butler simply has more quality depth and experience and they may have the best player on the floor during the game.

The funny thing about Butler is that all their teams run together. Good fundamental teams with one or two stars who can light it up and a lot of players who have significantly out performed any recruiting ranking. It would be nice if we can at least slow Martin down. He was completely out of control in the second half of the game in Washington.
Hinkle is a really tough place to play, but we have actually done pretty well there. A win here would really get fans excited. Take it one game at a time and play hard.

I mean they took Xavier to OT and were up on nova for the entire first half. Plus, they have looked good in games before that like a 20 point victory at Marquette. They have looked very good recently and better than they were against the Hoyas, however the Hoyas have for sure improved more in that time span.

The last Butler game was truly bizarre. First half was the best 20 minutes we played this season while the second half was the worst. In many ways like Saturday's game. In fact, if SHU makes that 3 and we go to overtime and lose they would be nearly identical. But like I keep saying, this is a rebuilding year and as long as we continue to improve like we are, then despite the W/L record this must be considered a successful year. Especially if our new style of play and new coach sends some blue coppers our way.

I love the outpouring of optimism lol. It's winnable...perhaps everything clicks from here on. But from a game to game perspective...we've got momentum and a great chance to take out Butler!

I’m hopeful we can continue our good play. But i hope if we just have a bad game against a good team on the road people will understand that these things happen and not flip out on the coach and players.
