Sorry to say, but this seems a reach. A 24 year old who last played HS ball in 2010, 41% from the field, 34% from three...the kind of numbers akin to an Irvin Church and not a Josh Hart.
Yes, the Army angle worked with Mike Riley in 1974...but Riley was a known commodity. This has the air of when Craig Esherick signed up Ray Reed and Sead Dizdarevic within days of each other.
If this is the best Broadus, Sutton, and Hardy have come up with...2016-17 is going to be a very long year.

That escalated quickly. Probably the strangest recruit we've had under JTIII.
At this point, I doubt any of us really know much about him as a player, so it's just speculation. I'm sure some will say that it's a desperation move, and maybe there's an element of that. But, after last year I'm glad the staff the staff realized we WERE desperate for a legitimate point guard. The fact that Hosch spent time in the army means he's older, and implies that he's got some toughness and leadership qualities. Let's just hope he has the ability to play at this level. Will wait and see before judging it one way or the other.
FWIW, I hope we're still in the market for Mullmore and/or a 5th year guard. Our guard play was weak enough last year that I'd be happy to bring 3 new guards into the fold next year, especially if some aren't 4 year guys.

My question is does this dude have four years of eligibility or does his age prevent him from that?

Apparently he's a Hoya, so he should have his own thread! Talking about the staff keeping things close to the vest. #HoyaParonia
I have faith in the staff. They must feel they have a steal in this man!
Welcome me to the program Denzel Hosch!

Or if he somehow got injured and redshirted could he be 30?!?! This is a really friggin weird decision, I feel like he might be the oldest dude to ever play D1

Man I can't stop laughing but this is funny. I hope it works out and if he is 25 and has skill he should be decent at the college level simply because physical maturity. If Cuse signed this guy we would be killing them right now and rightfully so.

On the bright side, He will definitely be too old for NBA GM's to draft..so we don't have to worry about him leaving school early.

Maybe hoping for Bernard James type maturity and leadership? But at least James got two years of JUCO basketball under his belt before going to FSU. Really, really surprised by this. Did we decide that we have no shot at any other guards for next year?

BTW...Welcome to the Hilltop, Denzell. I'm sure we all truly wish you great success in athletics and education. We're just quite a bit frustrated after one of the worst year's in team history.

If Thompson is at the point where he's taking wild swings for a PG from Army teams, the recruiting effort of the assistants is in need of serious review.
I'm all for the coach but the recruiting has gone south. The Big East Tournament was full of the wisecracks about how Georgetown passed on Hart, Jenkins, and Ochefu for Campbell, Cameron and Domingo. Georgetown no longer signs the suburban kid anymore, so just like back before JT III, the opposing coaches will start up with that "Georgetown doesn't want kids like you" talk again.
Where are the local kids? The fading Capital Classic always had some unsigned kids from Gaithersburg or Pallotti or W.T. Woodson who would be thrilled to play at Georgetown. Local kids built this program in the modern era. How many are on this roster? Two.
We keep hearing how Georgetown is this international university, yet, the last international player of significance was signed almost 20 years ago. OK, so we really didn't expect any Chinese to come over here after that mess, but the last European signed was in 2003, and GU has never signed a South American recruit...ever.
If this was any other Big East school signing a player on his third college and a tour in the army to lead a team back to the NCAA's, what would we say?

Seriously do you know how many 25 year old hoopers that didn't go to college are heading to the courts right now with a new pep in their step thinking they still got a shot to play high D1 ball? This could open a whole new angle on recruiting.
Ok sorry for the jokes but on a serious note it seems like Denzell maybe enrolled at a JUCO and possibly NC A&T so seems weird he would have 4 years but I'm sure the staff did due diligence as they somehow found out he was still out there.
