If the reports of an athletic scholarship are wrong, and this is just taking a flyer on a walk on, then sure why not. But if this is exactly as reported, jeez. Id give a coach with a better record of finding diamonds in the rough the benefit of the doubt. But with the exception of a year of Whittington, III's record is um, less than stellar. Welcome Denzell. I sincerely hope you exceed all expectations. Otto was a diamond in the rough Otto was a top 30 recruit who didn't play AAU. Not quite the same thing.

He's a walk-on for us I assume? Does the Army pay for his education? See my previous posts in this thread.

Maybe they were using this as leverage to try to get Mulmore to commit before going on other visits?

Disappointed as I kind of liked the move. Definitely would have been a 180 on how we usually recruit guards and whether or not this kid ever turned into a player the toughness and leadership he might have brought probably would have made it worth it. Oh well.

Ah well, as they say, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Welcome, Hosch!

Well that deescalated quickly. Heads up. No offer to Hosch, I'm told. "L.J. Peak emerged as Georgetown's top all-around scoring threat this past season, but he's more of a one-on-one scorer. Rising sophomore, Kaleb Johnson, another wing option, rounds out the backcourt."Sigh. And yet Peak in the halfcourt is way better at creating for others than Campbell. But according to this article only Campbell, whom the author acknowledges as being flawed, is the only true ballhandling guard that as of now will be on the roster next season. Btw Paul White is the person I trust most on this roster to create for others.

If Thompson is at the point where he's taking wild swings for a PG from Army teams, the recruiting effort of the assistants is in need of serious review. I'm all for the coach but the recruiting has gone south. The Big East Tournament was full of the wisecracks about how Georgetown passed on Hart, Jenkins, and Ochefu for Campbell, Cameron and Domingo. Georgetown no longer signs the suburban kid anymore, so just like back before JT III, the opposing coaches will start up with that "Georgetown doesn't want kids like you" talk again. Where are the local kids? The fading Capital Classic always had some unsigned kids from Gaithersburg or Pallotti or W.T. Woodson who would be thrilled to play at Georgetown. Local kids built this program in the modern era. How many are on this roster? Two. We keep hearing how Georgetown is this international university, yet, the last international player of significance was signed almost 20 years ago. OK, so we really didn't expect any Chinese to come over here after that mess, but the last European signed was in 2003, and GU has never signed a South American recruit...ever. If this was any other Big East school signing a pla yer on his third college and a tour in the army to lead a team back to the NCAA's, what would we say? What even is this post? I was about to ask the same question. I can't tell if it's a joke or not.

Let me put it another way: Georgetown just got a commitment from a 24 year old player left unsigned as a high schooler in 2010, who was a redshirt in JC, who did not make the team at NC A&T as a walk-on, and whose only competitive play in the last five years was from military extramurals. And if Tre Campbell can't turn it around, he's our option at PG. Yes, I'm concerned. Yet you've never seen him bounce a basketball so what in the world are you basing this off of?

Otto was a diamond in the rough Otto was a 5* recruit. He was not a diamond in the rough when he chose Gtown... But he was a diamond in the rough when we found him. That's the part that actually matters
