Let's all applaud the man who had a one-man nine point swing in this game. He needs his own thread.
Drawn charge. Offensive board and putback. Drawn charge. NBA 3.
Love all the little things he does. And the big things.
Cuse sucks.

The reasons he gets the start are becoming clearer and clearer. Defensive positioning yesterday was great.
I notice this year our guys seem much better about spreading their feet and establishing a wide base. If we commit to the Gene Smith School of in Your Face G-fense, this group has a shot at holding opponents under 40%

Agree, Derrickson was much more aggressive and smart in this game (except for that horrible pass when he was double teamed). now if we can get Jesse a little more energized in the paint we will be in great shape for BE schedule.

Am I crazy to think he's going to be a 1st round pick? His game is so similar to Draymond Green's.

Derrickson provides a needed presence down low and out on the perimeter..
His 2nd three was from deep!
As much as I like PW, the staff can't get away from the MD/RC combo at the 4 spot right now..

He's our 6'7 rim protecter or at least he was Saturday... Don't think players get enough credit for taking charges since it's better than a blocked shot.
3's going to ride the hot hand but kids who get on the glass are going to play without a doubt.. Marcus seems to know this. That said hoping for a lot of run for Paul today we need to start getting him back into form..

It would be nice to get off to a good lead after the first half so we can get some of the other guys some time in the second half. In addition to White, I would also like to see Kaleb Johnson get some time too.

I'm really happy for Marcus. The kid put in the work in the gym and he's clearly ready to compete and to excel at this level. He came up big in the Cuse game and already has 2 double doubles on the year. As a freshman. Love it! He can bang down low and rebound but he can also step out and knock down shots. He's already fun to watch but I'm even more excited to see how he develops.

That was just because that was the first time they had jumped(term for surprise trap) that game. He wasnt ready for it. It happens, dont really blame him, thats on coaching make sure that they are always aware that Cuse does have things they do out of that zone.

He is my favorite player on this team. He almost drew 5 charges against Syracuse. I am trying to remember the last player we had that drew charges as well.

i, too, am one who was beginning to question why exactly he has earned that starting spot over cameron or paul. after saturday, this has changed for me. he literally can do everything. shoot from 3, shoot from midrange, pass, post up, rebound. oh and i think he has a deceptively good handle for someone who has played PF for the majority of his high school career. there was a point late in the 2nd half where cuse was getting tons of offensive boards. i thought to myself, "they have to put marcus back in." lo and behold, he was already sitting at the scorer's table waiting to check in. i love this kid. but would hate to be the one that has to box him out

Huge props again to Derrickson, he came ready to work today. Scored in a wide variety of ways, rebounded hard and strong, and best of all: played defense like a MAN against Fischer and Elleson.
His outside/inside game is a valuable asset for this team and when he's on we'll go far!

Physically, he's one of the strongest Hoya freshmen I can recall since, maybe, Sweetney. Manhandling dudes. I loved it. And I loved his corner shot-fake and drive. He was fouled but it didn't seem to bother him in the least. I hope he shares his workout program with some of his teammates.
He had a bunch of defensive assignments tonight too and did really well against guys both smaller and bigger than him. That's incredibly valuable for this team. Nice job, Doc. Keep it coming!

It's not possible to reiterate that point too often regardless of which conference they're currently inhabiting/embarrassing and it's been a while since I've seen it posted in any thread. To summarize, Cuse sucks.
