Bowen's three was huge. We probably won't see it again for the rest of the season, but for him, a career 24% shooter, a big deal. Lots of great things out of the game but three of the freshmen have hit the wall. Peak was 0-2, Copeland 1-6, and White 0-5. Campbell stepped up big with 10 pts. Big win, if for no other reason that it keeps Georgetown out of the Villanova bracket and a potential 4/5 game with St. John's. The Redmen are on a roll. There are stil scenarios where we could be the 4, or even the 5. Seton Hall is a mess. Don't see any real chance of a loss.

Just finished on my DVR. We won a road game against a ranked team and none of the Big 3 frosh did much on offense, normally the sign of a defeat. But the unsung one, Tre ,continues to surprise with his three point shot not to mention speed with the ball. Think he adds a nice dimension and hope he sees a few more minutes per game the rest of the year. Think he has earned it. Ike had one of the best looking 1 for 6's, as at least two or three shots were in and out. His five points were big in the second half as were his three blocks, one occurring with four fouls. Josh and Hop were solid, and of course the Blonde Bomber carried the day with his clutch shots and last second steal. Finally, perhaps it was my imagination, but I could swear we forced Roosevelt Jones left quite a bit!! I consider this our second signature win, the other being Nova. With no bad losses, I an feeling a bit proud of these boys....at least for one night!!

Can someone explain to someone who got ATT&T'd how we gave up 7 offensive team rebounds, 2 defensive team rebounds and didn't get a SINGLE one?
ETA: And man, Chrabascz really shouldn't have played, huh?

Yeah the Hoyas won, so the average Georgetown fan will actually like the team for the next few hours before reverting to their normal state of hating the team and expecting the worst and saying they suck.

SFHoya - ATT spared you watching this: vine.co/v/O0XVg1TOxttI wonder if Big East Supervisor of Officials - Mens Basketball, John Cahill, will be reviewing that. Unfortunately, the amazing Italian soccer player flop isn't well captured in the video. The officiating in this league this year has been beyond atrocious (although it seems to be that way virtually every game so I guess there's that).

It is amazing how effective Hopkins can be when he is not putting the ball on the floor on the offensive end (ie, turning it over) and when his teammates are not giving him the ball in a manner where he is likely to turn it over. We have talked all year about his strengths on the defensive end, but he is also becoming a bit of a calming influence in a weird way on the offensive end. It took 3.5+ years for him (and his teammates and coaches it seems) to understand that he should almost never put the ball on the floor in an attacking way. But without the turnovers he can be such a key player for us down the stretch.

Paul White's shot doesn't even give you a thrill right now. It would be great if he found his stroke again. The commentator said "He's a terrific three point shooter. But his stats don't show it." I don't even know what that means. It's the talking point for when Reggie Cameron checks into a game.

Based on his reaction, I assumed it was a foul - until I saw the replay.

Great win! Not a good game for someone with a heart condition. Phew. Couldn't believe our ten blocks. I guess the best offense is a good defense. Glad we were the team that made our free throws. DSR really has a shot at POY after his performance. ["Blonds really do have more fun."] Having "Big Roy" at the game as a cheerleader, really helped. Win on Saturday and finish the season, 12-6. Go Hoyas. BTW, thanks to DanMcQ for the phantom foul video. What a joke!

I like to think of it as preparing for the NCAA tournament. Not just our games, but most Big East games I've watched have been so wildly inconsistent with so many wth calls and no calls I have to think they are just trying to prepare the league for the one sided officiating teams occasionally experience in the tournament. I cannot come up with any plausible explanation. I mean, no matter how early we go out this year I know we are well prepared for whatever the officials will throw at us so it hopefully won't be a factor.

He did seem to be enjoying himself.

This would be a very surprising win if we got it. I think ultimately the game means little in terms of the big picture. Would like to see a reduction in turnovers, a return to early season Josh Smith, and some decent shooting from the freshmen, but the result of the game itself isn't all that important. I actually think we'll get this win. And then our fan base will go crazy again talking about deep March runs. As for the earlier TJI question about whether or not we are satisfied with this team's performance I'm gonna go with yes. Four freshman coming in and upperclassmen that missed out on the tournament last year? Last time JT3 was in this position was his first season as head coach and his team missed the tourney that year. Before this season I said making the tourney should be the goal with this group, and it looks like we're there-- even if we hobble in. With this team, I've learned pretty much every game is a 50-50 game. So the goal now should be to win 1 game in the NCAAs. By that math, getting to the Sweet 16 is a 25 percent chance which seems about right.... As I expected but I'm laughing about people already predicting a walk-over of Seton Hall....

In fairness, there were some atrocious calls on the Butler defensive end as all, not the least of which was the call that put JS on the line with 10s left. But this and the uncalled travel on Dunham spotted them 4pts. I'd call it a draw.

That foul on Josh Smith at the end was a foul I'm sorry. Charbacsz or however you spell it slapped down with two hands when Josh had the board. We got hosed all night on the foul calls. Butler's guards just do that incessant Villanova move of throwing themselves into people on the drive and force the refs to make calls. Refs make the calls because the fans start hooting and hollering because no call was made but no one is fouling them.

Paul White was hammered several times with no foul. Refs were bad, AGAIN, but at least got a few calls right at the end.

What's most frustrating about the officiating is that dribbling like you have a seizure is seemingly a smart play now as is the Shatner-like performance by Barlow. It's one thing to get a man out of position and draw a foul and sell it. But just acting like you're being fouled constantly because you know the refs are awful ruins the flow of the game.

ETA: And man, Chrabascz really shouldn't have played, huh? In my best Groucho Marx imitation: "Chrabascz wanted to play this game in the worst way. . .and he certainly did." This morning I became patently aware of my confirmation bias regarding certain aspects of Georgetown basketball. I always think along the lines of: "Of course Chrabascz comes back in time to play Georgetown. It's just our luck. He's going to make the difference." During the game, he hit two very timely threes and it reinforced my initial opinion. Then I looked over the box score and see he was certainly was 2-3 from three, but also 1-7 from 2 and 0-6 from the line. Watching the game, somehow I saw none of that.
