A better road effort would be nice.

Winning at Butler makes today nothing more than helping SJU get in to the tourney. That's my story.

Limit stupid fouls. Limit stupid turnovers. Don't automatically help and leave an open 3 pointer.
And have more than 2 guys play with a sense of urgency.

Watching Butler a ton this year, I can safely say that Roosevelt Jones either has an inability to drive with his left or just has an aversion to it. It would be nice if we recognized that in this game before his final shot attempt. He has only has two moves, but that semi-pull-up shot-put shot is awfully effective. A win at Butler will go a long way for a lot of reasons.

Wipe the slate clean. This Butler game has become very important. 1-1 split on the road against two NCAA teams will keep us on track for a solid seed. Time to man up and get the job done! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor!

It's all about D and matchups. When we play a tough D and don't face a team with quick, athletic penetrators we are golden. We just don't play consistent, smart D. Watch Roosevelt Jones on Tuesday. Was at the last Butler game. He scored a gazillion points driving to the right side of the hoop and laying it off the backboard with his right hand. In fact, the last shot of the game was the same shot he made all night and probably would have gone down if DSR didn't block it. So let's see if our D don't force him to his left. If not it will be a long night.

Dr. Q - please do not rant about Butler's unworthiness this week - bad omen!! Lol This is one tough Board. If anything, Butler is the anti-St John's. Always play tough and make most of the talent they have. Hey, I've conceded that if St John's doesn't revert to form this Wednesday against Marquette and plays Nova like they did us then I will apologize to all the Red Storm fans and Coach Lavin.

The announcers during the Butler-DePaul game today suggested that Andrew C[not gonna try] is a decent bet to return on Tuesday. Butler was apparently hoping he'd be cleared for today, but no dice.

Is this Butler's senior night? I hope not; we should not be allowed to play more than one school on senior night!

Butler's head coach, Chris Holtmann, is noncommittal as to whether Andrew Chrabascz will play on Tuesday:
Michael Pointer @michaelpointer · 1h 1 hour ago Holtmann says he's still unsure when Chrabascz will return. Georgetown is possible, Providence is more likely, he said.

St. Johns just beat Xavier and Georgetown this week to punch their ticket to the NCAAs. They have virtually the same overall and BE records as us. They have nothing to prove to you and their fans really couldn't care about whether or not you apologize. But I'm sure they used a lot of the disrespect that came their way after getting blown out at Verizon to come out motivated at MSG...

Need to play him accordingly and put someone on him who has the ability to stick with him on his drives...presumably jabril, hop, or Bowen. Think he is too crafty for the freshman to handle.

I'm not expecting a hangover here from the St. John's game but I do expect this game to be a one to two possession type game. The key for me is Copeland. We need him back on track to win.

We didn't lose to Creighton and DePaul and if they lose to Marquette this week St John's will have lost to the 3 worst teams in the conference. Beating us at home after what we did to them at Verizon, on Senior night in a must win game for them is no big accomplishment. The whole point of my rants is that, unlike us, they are loaded with talent. The fact that we have the same BE records without the bad BE losses just reinforces my point.

The whole point of my rants is that, unlike us, they are loaded with talent. The fact that we have the same BE records without the bad BE losses just reinforces my point. I'm not sure why some people are so worked up about your comments, including the St. Johns fan base, because it really isn't anything they haven't said about themselves. They have some really bad losses for a team that for the most part starts 4 seniors and a talented 4 star soph. You can chock that up to coaching or the lack there-of, guys not getting up for games against lesser opponents, whatever the case may be, but it takes more than talent to win games and St. Johns hadn't really capitalized on theirs until the recently. Maybe their a team full of headcases that need to feel like everybody is hating on them before they turn it on and play with any sense of urgency. More likely, the free-flowing, AAU style of play, will win you some games and lose you some games that you probably should have won and there's a reason most successful teams don't employ the same strategy. It's not rocket science. UNLV plays the same way, Fresno St when Paul George was there is another good example. As for the Butler game, whether or not Chrabasz plays, we win or lose based on how WE play. With the exception of the Wisconsin games really (maybe Kansas too although we had too many defensive lapses in that one), I don't think there's been a game this year where we played our best basketball and the other team was just clearly better and beat us. We've given away a handful of games, failed to show up for a few others, but we have to start playing at a level where the other team is going to have to beat us because we aren't beating ourselves.
