I wanted to congratulate former hoya Vee Sanford on a great tournament. Its a shame that 95% of this board knew that Vee had a lot of talent and just needed more minutes. Its a testament to JT3's stubbornness that Vee had to transfer. Wouldn't have been nice to have Vee here 4 years. Should have given him playing time. We all knew it!!
Doesn't seeing him hit game winning shots make you sick, while we are in the NIT! Thanks JT3. Nice.

Sometimes players rejected by the HOYA staff as not good enough, just shouldn't have came to the hill. Big Ticket, Jerelle, Omar, even Rivers went on to play elsewhere with some better results than here. It is now transfer season and we have two sophs that are warming the end of the bench, they might want to move on to make room for new blood for the program.

Every program has transfers, but as a Moderator let me remind you this is not a forum to openly encourage current players to transfer.
Secondly, there has already been a ton of discussion about Vee in the NCAA tourney thread. You'll be hard pressed to find any regular poster here that is not happy for him. And (speaking for myself), no, seeing him hit a game winning shot did not make me sick. Far from it.

I'm happy for Vee, but it does make me wonder how many other guys III has allowed to languish at the end of the bench when they had/have the talent to help us. One current big man surely comes to mind.

Who should have sat Chris Austin or Jason Clark?? He doesn't even start for Dayton. He left cause Markel won the battle for time. Im happy for him cause he has said nothing bad about Georgetown and has stayed in contact with some of the guys via twitter that I have seen. So this all jt3 did him wrong stuff is overblown. He wouldnt even be on this team this year. Every team has transfers.

This seems like an overt enough trolling thread--and worse, repeat #hoyatalklogic from Thursday--to provide this public service announcement:

Or would you have played a 4-guard lineup and benched Hollis? I liked Vee but he wasn't taking Wright's or Freeman's minutes and Clark was the better complementary player to play with Wright and Freeman. Vee's time might have come the next season but it would have been at the expense of Starks.

If Starks was on Dayton he'd probably be the best or 2nd best player.

To a much more important point, he hurt Syracuse, which makes him one of the good guys.

What a bunch of dreck, rich....and sky... Push an agenda with no regard to the fact that, while Vee was nice, he had better players in front of him. Bottom line. P.O.S. post.

Clark was without doubt the better player but he wasn't 24 mpg better, I feel JT3 could have found more time for Vee which probably would have kept him around.. Vee would have helped the 2011-12 team and he would have helped last years team as well..

I dont know that it would have kept him to play him more. Jerrelle and him were best buds. I think they both wanted out. Vee just pulled the trigger first.

Vee would have helped the 2011-12 team and he would have helped last years team as well.. You left out Starks who played more minutes than Vee in 2011. And a lot of the time when Clark or Freeman or Wright was out, we played only 2 guards with Hollis at the three. So if we needed another point guard in the game, it was Starks, not Vee; and if we needed a better scoring option, it was Freeman at the 2 and Hollis at the 3, not Vee at the 2. The problem with that season was the Henry Sims had not yet developed, so we played a lot of Benimon or Lubick alongside Julian Vaughn. Vee was not the solution to that problem either.

Mano y mano, Clark was not a better player than Vee; Clark was a better PERSON for the Hoyas than Vee at the time - or, at least JTIII saw it that way. Also, why not play a 3 guard lineup? if you've got 3 good guards? Or at least more minutes. Maybe i wouldn't say this if JTIII didn't consistently do this with players such as Hayes and Domingo. Talent is on the bench.

Clark was a starter and team leader on a 3-seeded team. Vee comes off the bench for an 11-seed, as a fifth year senior.

I think Vee should have gotten more time, and he's the only transfer that made sense that I really think should have been avoided (Macklin's transfer, on the other hand, made no sense unless there were academic issues -- and I never heard of any).
That said, anyone thinking fifth year Vee Sanford is not sustantially better than sophomore Vee Sanford is more than a little crazy. Vee was, at best, the 4th best guard on that roster. Future NBA player Hollis Thompson was splitting time between the 4 and the 3, trying to keep us from playing small all the time. Vee wasn't a PG, so Markel got some extra time.
So, yeah, Vee could have gotten more time. But there's a lot of revisionist history here (like Purple asking why not play a 3 guard lineup. Umm, we did, for much of the game. And everyone hated it because our defense sucked.)
