This could be the most prepared group of freshmen that JT3 has had. They are answering JT3's call to be ready from Day 1. Two more BE All-Rookie team members in Marcus and Jessie?

Just a hunch but I think Marcus is going to have much more of an impact than most people think this year. From what I've seen and heard he's better than his recruiting ranking which wasn't half bad. I bet he has an impact of somewhere between PW and Ike this past year as freshmen

There obviously is not much to base this on - but I think Marcus may end up being an NBA player, and perhaps a pretty valuable one. A 6'7/6'8 guy with good length who can shoot the 3 yet who is still strong enough to defend the post and rebound decently. If his better conditioning provides him the quickness to be able to defend ball screen plays on the perimeter - he could really fit the evolving small ball ethos of the NBA as a stretch 4. He of course may not be able to do any of those things at an NBA level. But the raw material is there, and by all accounts he is a smart kid and a hard worker. Can't wait to see him in Kenner games this summer.

People are forgetting that he was a top 10 player in his class as a sophomore. He fell because he isn't a off the chart athlete. His skill level is very very high but I don't expect him to come in and dominate what I expect is him to come in and be a player who can fit within the team and do the little things early. Our offense really will allow him to use all of his gifts.

Can't wait to see him in Kenner games this summer. There's a reason Draymond Green keeps coming up in his comps. Their games aren't completely different, but there's enough differences (Derrickson is a much better shooter at the same age). One of the biggest reasons for the comp is that they are both under-height big guys who were known as skill/hustle/iq guys without NBA athleticism. Except... Draymond has NBA athleticism. He's not an elite athlete but he's better than average. No one knew because he was overweight. Most of the assessments of Derrickson's game came up an extra bunch of pounds weighing him down. I don't know if he's the next Draymond Green -- but I do know that losing a lot of weight is going to improve his athleticism significantly. I don't think it's crazy to think he has an NBA shot. Both Green and Harrison Barnes played this stretch four that can defend bigger men. It's a very useful role.

Or he said something very close to that.

If you saw Marcus as a freshman at Paul VI, you would've no doubt projected him to be a five-star, top-15 player in his class when it was all said and done. He was already that good. I'm still kinda shocked he's actually coming here considering some of the (bad) info I was given early in his recruitment and the fact that I thought he was gonna be an elite recruit.
He has all the tools to be a really, really good player at Georgetown. If he stays in tip-top shape, he should be all-league easily by his junior year.

You wouldn't be playing if you had a torn meniscus and a college career ahead of you and if he is--Britt, Britt's Dad, and his coach need to have a talk because that is ignorant. Britt has also been "hurt" the past 2 years since he's been garbage. Derrickson is a guy to keep on radar--just hope he's receptive to Hoyas. RDF: I can assure you that Derrickson is receptive to the Hoyas. We were one of the first to show interest, and he's a great kid who will make a well-reasoned decision. Seems like u nailed this one Oh my
