I've got nothing against UCLA but something doesn't smell right when Shabazz Muhammed is quoted in talking of how "great Ben Howland's offensive system is". Howland is a good coach but his offense is beyond awful. If Georgetown is going to take hits over their offense (which at times it more then has deserved but they usually lose due to lack of defense) then what the hell does Howland do as an offensive coach considering the level of player he's had there in his tenure? It's a great offensive system when you're playing alongside KA.

ROTFLMAO. Shabazz said that? ?? If he thinks that, he's a minority of one. I think Howland is a really good coach, and I love how he repaired the mess left by the last guy (Lavin), and his teams are never ever lacking in effort. But there are two criticisms of Howland out here that are almost universal - 1) He is too liberal in the use of his timeouts, and 2), and much more important, he won't open up the offense. I've heard many people say that UCLA basketball under Howland is boring. To me, it's not boring if you win, but I certainly understand the criticism. He seems to put much more emphasis on defense than offense, and his teams always grind it out.

Depends on the type of player you are--Shabazz Muhammed is a talented guy--but he's played with talented guys on AAU circuit and was a ball hog and going to get numbers to be #1 in country. That crap doesn't win anything. It also isn't condusive for a guy who is most valuable with the ball (Anderson) playing alongside him. I get that you want to be with "great players" but it's about FIT and too many kids make mistake of not understanding difference between talent/fit. People need to take on roles for a team to be great and in this generation of basketball--too many guys don't view it that way-they just think--get numbers and go to league. Why do you think Bob Hurley continues to stress FIT when making a decision?

I love how these 5 star recruits say how they would "love to play" with these other top recruits in college. Oh yeah? How do you know? Have you ever played with them? Ok maybe the 2 ALL-star games in camps you both went to. I can understand if players like the fab-5 all went from HS to College together or AFree and Chris who have been DC area friends/competitors for life, but when these player's haven't played with each other more then a couple of times over the summers of their HS career, it doesnt make sense. They shouldn't be deciding they want to spend 1,2, or maybe 3,4 years with a player based upon they hype they have heard from others, the 1 or 2 games they have seen (usually are playing co-current games so its not like they are scouting eachother), or the 3-4 times they have played together. I dont know, I guess I'm just ranting, and they are HS kids. I guess going to a school to play with other good players is better then going to a school for a good football game ;D.

package deals are talked about all the time, but rarely happen because ultimately each kid decides what's best for him.

If Kyle ends up at UCLA, it won't be because of Shabazz, who hasn't decided anything. It is possible, I guess, that if Kyle picks UCLA, it might make Shabazz more likely to do so, but still guarantees nothing.
