Kinda exhausted going with the "dont worry about this class because we are so well positioned with the next class logic." We did it in 2009 and 2010. We lucked up with the 2011 class, but you are not going to find Jabril and Otto type players very often last minute. Most times you will find Vee/Jerelle type guys. As has been said for a while it is great to be listed, but we HAVE to pull some of these top flight recruits. Or we can just be resolved to have a Notre Dame or Marquette type model and go find lesser ranked (not necessarily lesser talented) kids and build them up until they become contributors. Id like to get a mixture of the two with maybe one or two highly ranked kids (who can make a difference day 1) with some other kids with potential to become great players, like with the 2011 class.

Speaking of not guaranteed, three SJU recruits didn't qualify for this season: Amir Garrett (who may never suit up cause he's a baseball guy too), Jakaar Sampson and Norvel Pelle. This per SJU themselves. blow. wait did they officially not qualify or just haven't qualified yet? Is there a chance of them getting eligible for 2nd semester. Cause that would be huge if none of those guys made it. down in flames.

and Anquan Bolden that would be great too. I'm not so sure that the Baltimore Ravens would be too thrilled about that idea. I like the direction your headed in though, hell JTIII should bring in Brian Urlacher while he's at it.

I agree chep. I tell people all the time that there's a difference between a basketball team and a hoop squad. BC, Provy, etc. have teams. UNC, Duke, UK, Zona, old UNLV, old Michigan, old hoyas, have/had HOOP SQUADS!
That is not to say that basketball teams can't win NC, see Indiana, but to me there's a difference. I'm ready for a HOYA HOOP SQUAD again.

So according to the release, it is possible they will be able to play as early as December 21, and then - I mean then, as in later, as in January after the break - start classes in the Spring. Why do I think this will all work out for them? I mean, it is not like they are taking scholarships from existing players, and getting those kids academic grants, in order to offer an athletic scholarship to someone when they do not have any left.
Of course, had someone totally unrelated to the St. John's program paid for one of these kids to travel to the United States in order to attend high school here, then I could see forcing them to stay out beyond December 21, even if they had qualified and begun attending class.
Maybe I am just confused about NCAA rules for being eligible.

Teams are good once in a while-programs reload. Georgetown needs to get back to being a program and identify guys who are willing to commit to doing what it takes.

Kenna, some people think Pelle will never suit up for the Johnnies. He's the one big amongst all the SF's they brought in this year.

it isn't "don't worry about this class" but rather to consider recruiting in a longer term than class by class. You don't take a bad PG in 2012 (DSR qualifies as "not bad", btw, at worst) just because when you have a kid like rysheed in 2013 who you could try to get to commit instead.

I feel like you have to look at 2012 and 2013 in tandem. We're in with a lot of elite elite kids (Kyle Anderson, Devonta Pollard, TJ Warren, Troy Williams, Nerlens Noel, and Al Freeman). We need to get a couple of those kids. Frankly, I don't care which (which is why I won't be absolutely broken up if we don't land Kyle), but I want 2 of them. There are preferences (read: Noel), but any 2 of them and we've got a squad, given our current guys. From there, if we add on a few additional very good recruits (DSR, Upshaw, Britt, Jordan, Ennis, Meeks, Domingo) we're in serious business. But we need some of those top kids to drop. Tony Parker? I assume that's an inadvertent omission, but elite or not? At worst, it seems like he's close to elite.

If Kyle opts for UCLA then it seems TP is a lock to head there with Shabazz to be the Collegiate Heat. If Kyle heads elsewhere (UFla, StJ, or SHU) then maybe we're still in play for Parker.

I wonder if TP would still want to take over that position as he would inherit the bitch, or Bosh, position of the three. A good player in his own but overshadowed by the other two, and thus would receive the blame. Does not sound ideal to me.

I thought we were off Parker's list, and then back on. Am I behind? Last I heard was that Parker dropped Memphis. Are we off again anyway?

Still on, but he's mentioned that he wants to play with both Shabazz and Kyle in seperate interviews; which leads many to believe UCLA is the leader.

I've got nothing against UCLA but something doesn't smell right when Shabazz Muhammed is quoted in talking of how "great Ben Howland's offensive system is". Howland is a good coach but his offense is beyond awful. If Georgetown is going to take hits over their offense (which at times it more then has deserved but they usually lose due to lack of defense) then what the hell does Howland do as an offensive coach considering the level of player he's had there in his tenure?
