interesting that he's reclassifying. They're already bringing in Michael Gbinije a 6'6" Forward ranked #23 in the '11 class and are thought to be the leader for Deadndre Daniels a 6'7" forward ranked #35 in the '11 class. I don't know if that means Daniels is out of the picture or if they're just going to have a ton of highly ranked SFs all fighting for playing time. Either way it's interesting.

So excited to have a tall guy that can hit the mid range jumper. Otto is supposed to have one of the best midrange games for a big man in his class. We haven't had someone like this in a while. Its going to be so awesome to have this tool against the zone, and just in general, to have a 6'9 player who can score is going to be such an asset for us.

When the Hoyas were recruiting both he and GW, my thought was they were both being courted specifically to beat Syracuse.

To go along with ID--I'd say your point is not only correct-but should be expanded--it's to take teams out of the zone--as that's all opponents had to do to stifle the offense. Now you have size that can shoot over/pass/handle that can make offensive attack more versatile/interchageable--which is the entire point of having a Princeton set in halfcourt--to have guys who can shoot/pass/handle--otherwise it's relegated to how well you shoot from 3 and limited.
Porter is ideal player for any system--but he is prototype of what you would want at Georgetown.

I referred to Otto as our zone buster. But, now we can add GW and call them The ZoneBusters. We can have JC, MS, and HT sitting on the perimeter or cutting through space, with Nate et al. cleaning up. One can dream...

Otto just got bumped down a spot in ESPN's rankings due to Alex Murphy reclassifying to 2011 He didn't just get bumped...he dropped 11 spots. Is it possible that his quiet performance at the Jordan brand classic impacted his stock so much?

the latter. If he had signed in the acc he'd been bumped up.

I'd bet it was his performance in the Jordan Brand game.
Before the game, Dave Telep admitted that a good performance by Otto could result in a rise in the rankings. However, we all know he didn't do much of anything and hence the drop.
Not saying it's fair, but that's how it is. If he would've went for 27 and 11, I can almosy guarantee he would have risen in those same rankings because there would've been a buzz about him.
For those that think that ESPN has it out for Georgetown players, after Trawick committed, Telep put him in his Top 100 and to date, ESPN is the only recruiting service to rank him as a four-star prospect.
It works both ways.

what performance? he never got to touch the ball. It works more the other way than this way. Marquis Teague and Jabari Brown had poor games as well. Where was their drop?

Dude, I said that it may not be fair, but that's how it is. I know he never got into the flow of the game and it seemed as if he was being frozen out by his teammates, but that doesn't negate the fact that he didn't do anything in the game and of all the players in the game, he was the least known commodity being that he didn't play AAU ball and few people have actually seen him play live.
And Marquis Teague looked fine to me in that game - 14 points, 7 assists and outplaying Myck Kabongo in the process - and Jabari Brown - to recruiting gurus - is a known commodity and isn't going to drop in the rankings after scoring 14 points in 15 minutes, regardless of how we got those points.
Like I said, it may not be fair but that's how these things work and to be honest, why they should be taken with a grain of salt. To be honest, the fact that Mikael Hopkins is still ranked in the ESPN Top 150 shows me there isn't a bias whatsoever. Telep saw him live at the NHSHF in January and Hopkins was benched by Coach Jones for the start of the game against SVSM and had a typical Hopkins-like performance and wasn't even mentioned by Telep in any article he wrote about the event. Despite the fact that he's a four-star prospect and is supposed to be "the man" for the area's most well known program, he sleep walks through his senior season and is rewarded as an honorable mention All-Met by the Washington Post. Yet through all of this, he has maintained his status as a top-80 prospect by the only organization that has ranked Trawick in its Top 100 and has Georgetown's class as 13th-best in the nation.
Yet, there is apparently a bias against Georgetown recruits.
