Otto Porter
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure how true this is , but he may now be on the radar. Kids rather thin , but after watching his video I understand why so many schools are starting to show interest.
From the national recruiting board:
I hear Otto Porter now has an offer from Georgetown. Do you have any other scoop about him? Has he grown or added some weight this summer? Any chance of an article on the main page about him and his decision to not play on the summer circuit to stay home and "work" on his game? Thanks.
In reply:
Just to clarify, it wasn't his decision not to play AAU rather it was a decision made by his family. They would rather have him staying home and working out instead of traveling all over the country just to be seen. His Dad felt that if coaches thought he was good enough to play for them, they would come to him. He also felt Otto would become a better player working on his skills instead of playing in games where oftentimes those around him would rather be noticed than worry about winning. I've heard he has grown a little more (about 6'9" now) and that several programs who were on him last year are still very much involved (Mizzou, Purdue, Vandy, etc). Another new school that appears to be showing some interest now is Kansas. Manning was down at the school the other day to watch him work out and talk to him.
Prospects Info:
Power forward - Sikeston, Missouri , Scott County Central H.S
Ht:6'8"
Wt:190 lbs
Class:2011 (High School)

Per Scout.com... Toothpick skinny, Porter isn’t one of those kids who dominates because he’s tall and out jumps everybody on the floor. Instead, Porter uses an incredible skill package to do his work. He’s got a buttery jump shot that is good out to the three point line, can handle the ball quite well for a guy his size, runs the floor, plays patiently and scores with either hand around the bucket. And, if his initial move gets stopped, odds are he’s got a counter move that is just as good, or better.
Also impressive is Porter’s overall athletic ability. No, he’s not a high flyer but he has superior body control, runs the floor without ever tiring and has excellent lateral movement. As a kid who has never really played summer ball, he’s the product excellent coaching on the high school level and lots of work with his father, Otto Sr., who starred as a small forward at Southeast Missouri State who over 1200 points in just two seasons and was named second team All-American in 1981.
Per poster SeMo_fan: (after I asked where the info on the offer from GU came from he responded with this)
I don't think it is published anywhere, though as it appears Eric(Bossi/Rivals.com) has found out that much of Porter's recruitment is kept very close to the vest which is likely another reason most people (other than the coaches who are recruiting him) don't know much about him. I guarantee though, had Eric not watched him play last year and been a proponent of Porter, there would be even fewer coaches who would know about him. As far as the offer goes, John Thompson III came by the school and visited Porter last week (this coming from the coaches and teachers there) which is when the offer was extended.
I figure it will be difficult to get this kid from Mizzu .. but I like everything I hear about him.

Eric Bossi:
Nothing new, really. He was an oversight in the last edition of the rankings. I feel pretty strongly that he could even be better than that, but it's really tough to go too far with him when he's not allowed to play summer ball and we don't get the opportunity to see him against the country's top players.
He's been playing to rave reviews during campus stops during June.
I think he's quite similar to Anthony Davis who is a top 10 guy. Long, fluid athlete who rebounds at an astounding clip, blocks shots and is fundamentally sound with face up game.
