Good team. There are no trap games in the Big East.
Come to play. Win.
The End.

Providence plays no defense at all. This is usually the type of team the Hoyas do well against. Let's look for Wright to get back on track here.

Would be a great road W. I agree that historically Provy is a beast of a place to play.

Yes but they do rebound and shoot threes but do not shoot them well.

I grew up with Marshon Brooks mother down in Central Jersey (monmouth county) .. and I'm happy the young man has made it this far and is playing well when not injured. I've watched the Friars play a few games this year and we should be able to handle this road game as long as we come to play for 40 mins. Council & Curry are decent guards and Jamine Peterson is tough .. very tough. They will have no answers for our bigs and Greg/Julian should both be ready to produce in the box. I know they won't lay down and any road game is tough .. but we can't afford to choke this game away like we did vs The Bulls .. that loss was terrible (no matter what people may think) .. with that said .. HOYAS BY 10! GET EM BOYZ!!

I hate playing at Providence. That place is a Hoya graveyard. Keep up the momentum Hoyas!!! A graveyard is where I almost ended up after the last game @providence, when FLHoya's car was about 2 seconds away from being eviscerated by some crackhead running through a red light at 70 mph at 2 am somewhere in Northeast. Playing basketball games in a minor league hockey arena makes for a slightly odd atmosphere. The Providence student section is tiny but can be fiesty. I'm sure they will be up for this game, and it should be a pretty good draw in general with us being a top 10 team. Get the crowd out of it early. I get the feeling the Friar players don't believe deep down that they can hang with us - let's jump on them right away and not do anything that will make disabuse them of that notion.

Agree with Russky, the crowd can get into it, and usually does for Georgetown games (whether we're good or not). The noise level is a bit higher since they renovated about five years ago (and renamed it the Dunkin Donuts Center, "The Dunk").
As for the team, from what I've seen this season, and heard from my dad and uncle who are big PC fans, we should expect a lot of press while we're on offense, and a long and active, if not completely dicsciplined, half-court defense. When PC is on offense, much of their movement is created by Curry penetrating and kicking. They'll also throw up a lot of threes, and while they don't hit at a high rate, it almost doesn't matter, as they get a ton of offensive rebounds and putbacks, many of them from Jamine Peterson.

Greedy Peterson is going to drive us nuts. He's not DeJuan Blair, but he's a good offensive rebounder and can score down low. Marshon Brooks has also turned into a pretty good scorer.
They crash the offensive boards and don't commit turnovers. That's bad and likely limits our fast break points, which seems to be a consistent thread of our losses.
At least they force a lot of turnovers themselves. Or do much of anything on defense.

Pomeroy projects an 85-79 Georgetown win in a 74-possession game. The projection to give up 79 points to Providence points out that the real issue with this team is the defense. In the last ten games, GU has held only two teams below a point per possession - Rutgers and UConn. The defense is still not good enough to win when the offense struggles.

Our defense has been good early in recent games (did not see the USF game). From what I saw vs Duke and Nova, we tend to relax, or lose focus, when we're ahead by a lot. Both of those teams were playing hard until the end of the game, we weren't as aggressive and it led to many TOs which led to easy baskets.

As always on the road, it will be about defense and rebounding. Can't expect to shoot lights out again, we need to scratch and claw to get this one.
