I looked for you at the game, but I couldn't find you. It seemed like just a few of your friends came. We should hang out sometime when our opponent is not another top 10 team. I mean, if you don't want to, that's ok. But then please don't pretend that we're really friends.

This is no excuse for our team's poor performance but man......what a joke. There was absolutely no student turnout tonight. Pathetic.

Agreed. Reminded me of Esherick era turnouts. The students who weren't there today should be forced to sit in the 400s on Saturday...

It looked and sounded bad on TV. While not a key reason we lost, it helps to have some energy in the buiding, good or bad. Just something to get the guys Editeded off or excited.

You get basically free courtside seats to watch a Top-10 team play.
You have 9-10 home games per year, 4-5 on a weeknights.
Get it together kids.
(Might be time for 'Hoya Points' to prioritize tickets and seating for games.)

From somebody who was in the building (and has been for all but 5 games since 2003), there was NO energy tonight other than the 2 minute stretch late in the 2nd when we brought it back from 8 down to 2 down. That goes for the floor as well as the stands. Guys, like it or not the team feeds off the energy of the crowd. If you don't show up, you make it harder for them to as well. They're your peers. Support them if you want them to win. If not, stay at Lau for another 2 hrs. 'Cause that'll be what you remember in 10 years . I can't wait for the first student to chime in with some lame excuse.

I'm back because this really Editedes me off.
I sat and watched what was supposed to be ho-hum game FOR TWO HOURS IN THE MIDDLE OF CLASS. These kids can't be bothered to sit courtside?!?!
I'd kill to be able to go to every game, sit on the baseline for 8 bucks and cheer on my school. It was among the best perks of being a Georgetown student, and I took advantage of it. I sat 3 rows back to watch us lose in the NIT Final simply because I could get tickets.
You kids are letting your college times pass you by. AND FOR WHAT?!?!?! Hitting the books another night? Give me a break. Let me tell you a secret, you'll be fine. My 3.1 GPA got me into a top-10 law school so quit nerding it up, it won't kill you. You'll never remember what reading you just stayed in for, but you might have remembered the night you and your friends killed a few beers, cheered on the Hoyas and laughed your asses off playing Shuffleboard at Rocket Bar afterwards.
You're in college, act like it.
EDIT: It was at a game just like this when my friend took off at the halftime buzzer, ran across the court with his shirt off and climbed the basket and hung on the rim. I can't even remember who we played, but I remember that story. Go make some of your own, kiddos.

This was as pathetic a showing by the student body as I can remember under JT3. The student sections were embarrassingly barren. The team played poorly and could really have used a lift. The students don't deserve this team.
Really, it was shameful.

Hey, you can't rip on the students who were there tonight. We tried.
But everyone who didn't go is fair game. It's an embarrassment. The real question- what can be done about this? We need an elite atmosphere, and I'm afraid it's only going to go downhill. A huge part of the loud and enthusiastic fans are seniors. Why is there no basketball culture among the underclassmen? My freshman year basically my whole floor would go over to the game together and be obnoxiously loud. Why are people sitting in the student section and making no noise.... and only showing up when we play Duke?

hoya10, we're not ripping on you or the other students who were there, and you know it. you did what you could, and you're not the target of our rants; the only folks we're concerned with for this thread are the ones who weren't there.
hoyablue, what's the word, guys?

I don't understand this phenomenon at all. I graduated fairly recently, and the student crowds were (almost) always pretty good. And the attendance certainly never dipped dramatically after a big win, weeknight or not.

As someone who was there in the student section... ug. Those of us who were there, tried. There just weren't many of us. We got louder in the second half after Wright gestured repeatedly at us. Then of course when it got bad students started leaving (PET PEEVE - students who leave early - especially at the RU game but this is just as bad. Where do you need to be so urgently? Stay and support your team!)
I guess on the plus side, we're not West Virginia fans and didn't throw anything at USF's coaches and have to have our coach ask us to behave? We still have that going for us...

Maybe start holding back tickets for certain games with priority seats for those who have a used stub from certain games. So, floor seats for Duke require a Rutgers, Nova requires USF stub, Cuse requires any 2 of SHU, Rutgers, and USF. Tickets can be picked up at at table set up at the home game before the next one.

It would also be nice if the school re-instated busses that went directly to the game.
A lot of students do not go simply because of the hassle. This is exacerbated by weeknight/ late games.
I know- it's a horrible excuse. I've never used it. But this is honestly what I hear all the time

Wait--are there any current students who were ever bussed to the games? I seem to remember that ending prior to the '06-'07 season, when the current seniors were freshmen.

No, I'm just aware that it used to be the case. My freshman and sophomore years they gave us metro cards. Now the policy is just "screw you kids, you're on your own"
