Sheesh this is such a tough league the only teams i'd really want to see are rutgers and depaul and even they've been known to pull or almost pull an upset.

Man... we HAVE to beat WVU to lock up a good shot at the three seed/two byes... that road to the finals doesn't look nearly as arduous as ours did last year.

Not so bad. I'll take ND --> Pitt --> chance at revenge against cuse
I'd like to see at least 2 wins in the BET to get some momentum up for the tournament.

BET Bracket as of right now (after the MU-Cincy game). Every team has 4 games remaining.
Notes:
--Pitt over WVU for 3rd seed on the "record against teams in descending order" tiebreaker (no one's beating them on that one, as they've now defeated the BE #1 and #2).
--MU over GU for the 6th seed on head-to-head.
--5 way tie for 8th-12th broken on record in the mini-conference, with 9th-11th all tied there and broken on a separate mini-conference between those three.
(9) UConn/(16) Depaul vs. (8) Cincinnati ------------------> (1) Syracuse
(12) USF/(13) St. John's vs. (5) Louisville ------------------> (4) West Virginia
(10) Seton Hall/(15) Rutgers vs. (7) Georgetown ---------------------> (2) Villanova
(11) Notre Dame/(14) Providence vs. (6) Marquette -------------------> (3) Pittsburgh

Not that I'm suggesting it's likely this scenario will happen (in fact, with the way we've played down to RU and USF, it's unlikely), but in order to get a double bye:
1) We need to win out (duh). This would give us a 12-6 BE record, and give us a H2H win over WVU and L'ville, 2 teams that are currently ahead of us, should there be a two way tie for 4th.
2) In addition to losing to us, WVU would also need to lose at Nova in their final regular season game. This would put them at 12-6 also, and we would have the tiebreaker.
3) Marquette cannot win out. Should they do so (and finish 12-6 also), the three team mini-conference including GU, Marquette and WVU would have the standings: GU 1-1, Marquette 1-1, WVU 1-1. Assuming Cuse finishes 1st (and they should, given their schedule vs. Nova's the rest of the way), our H2H record vs. Cuse is 0-2, which would be worse than Marquette (0-1) and WVU (0-1). Kinda crappy how that plays out, but the conference schedule makers really did us no favors this year.
This is all also assuming that Pitt at least finishes 3-1 in their final 4 games. They're probably the favorite to win in all 4, so they should have at least a 3 seed locked up. If they only go 2-2, however, it really could muddle up the picture further.
First thing's first though: win on Tuesday. A loss at Louisville and we have much bigger problems than trying to stay alive for a double bye.

I actually think 0-2 and 0-1 are no different by tiebreaker procedures (no wins is no wins and all teams had a chance to get one). In which case, we do get the #4 seed since Villanova would break the tie and we'd be 1-1 to 0-2 for the others. But really, like you say, who cares? Tuesday is what matters.

To be fair, WVU could definitely lose at UConn, too. Tonight might be UConn's season. (It is sort of interesting the ways UConn's season mirrors ours last year. Right up to the fact that they pulled a Nova win on the road out of nowhere and got everyone talking about them again.) My guess is that, like us last year, they just arent good enough to beat the better teams consistently, but we'll see. They can help us a lot with wins over WVU and Lville.

It's sad that now we need so much help in order to get the double bye that i thought we had locked up a couple weeks ago.

Once again, I am not defending any of our losses, but people really need to get over this notion that USF is one of the weakest teams in the conference. It's simply not true. Doesn't mean we shouldn't have beaten them at home. Of course we should have. Just pointing out that they are actually pretty good. People only think they suck because that is their tradition. OK, losing to St. Johns is not good, and they'll probably lose to Nova, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they run the table after that to finish at .500....in the best basketball conference in America.

Granted I would prefer to have a double bye, but today's seeding is doable. We want to see either Rutgers or USF for reasons that have gone on for pages on this Board and we have shown that we can play with Nova. They are in a losing streak right now, too.

Umm, if 12th place in a 16-team conference is not "one of the weakest teams in the conference", then I don't know what is.

they're 10th out of 16th based on the bracket on the Hoyasaxa website.

they're 10th out of 16th based on the bracket on the Hoyasaxa website. The post a few above from this says 12th with Seton Hall 10th. Dominique is definitely an NBA player though. I'd rather play a team that is generally mediocre than a team with a guy like him that can hit you for 30 or 40 points and foul people out.

one of them is wrong not sure which, but teams 8th -12th all have the same record so there's no real difference between those spots right now so it's just as right to say USF is the 8th best team in the BE as it is to say they're 12th right now. So they're really not that bad.

Can people stop using wins in an uneven-schedule conference as the end-all, be-all of how good a team is? I think we're all probably smart enough to know why, so I suspect it is just people wishing to make a point with manipulated stats.
