I'm confused. Is Ty deciding on which high school or college to attend within a week or two?

Ty....on the long shot that you are reading this...come to the Hoyas. Jason Clark, Markel Starks and you would make up a nasty backcourt....add Hollis, Lubick, Moses Abraham and some of the other 2011 recruits listing us and we are a top 10 team while you're a Hoya.
DC would love to have you!!

I'm just sayin' TJ that in recent past Nova's most notable news regarding their individual players have involved stealing girlfriends, suspensions due to drug use and the first ever college all american who failed to be drafted.

Big day, this is one of the more anticipated announcements for us that I can think of in a while. A lot of times it seems like you have a pretty good idea who a kid will announce for, ie when Wright and Freeman announced I felt very confident going in. This time I feel like it's a legit 50-50, and could really set the tone for this class.

setonhall insider/admin says he was told that ty would announce over the weekend and that it would be Nova. Poster on Nova board says he's hearing it's Georgetown.

I hope he feels Gtown is the best fit for him. With Chris and Austin leaving he'll have the opportunity to immediately make an impact and do it on a team that at this point is a perennial big east contender. Add in the fact that there is limited individual player drama compared to certain other competitors, the fact that gtown players often have the chance to play in the NBA and professionally after college and a system which will only add to and refine the skills a player has and I think itd be a missed opportunity if he doesn't come here.

more from the seton hall insider: "The Johnson news came from a Big East coach who is not involved with the player. He told me of the probable holiday weekend commitment, so if Johnson's Facebook entry which I hear just came out saying he's about to decide is correct he was right at least with the timing.
He did say that Georgetown was second and Rutgers was a courtesy. But who knows, things change often in recruiting."
He heard all of this on thursday, so maybe he's changed his mind since then.

It's Villanova www.zagsblog.com/2010/07/03/sny-exclusive-tyrone-johnson-makes-the-call/NEW YORK – Under head coach Jay Wright, Villanova has become known as Guard U. The Wildcats landed yet another great guard from New Jersey when Tyrone Johnson of Plainfield High School made his verbal commitment exclusively on SNY.tv. “I’ll be going to Villanova University,” the 6-foot-3, 189-pound Johnson said.” I chose Villanova because it’s a great program. Coach Wright is real great at what he does. I think Villanova is a great fit for me and my family as well and I think it can take me to the next level and where I want to be.” Johnson, the No. 16 point guard in the Class of 2011 according to Rivals.com, chose Villanova over Rutgers and Georgetown.

It's always tough to lose a kid who you've been on for so long, and who at one time was rumored to have committed during one of his visits, but that's the reality of recruiting. If there was one kid who was I somewhat confident of becoming a Hoya, it was Ty, but best of luck to him and on to the next one.
It's just kinda befuddling to me that Nova can be called "Guard U." when they have EXACTLY two guards currently in the NBA and one who somehow managed to be an All-American last season and still go undrafted.
Anyway, it's obvious that Georgetown wants another lead guard in the 2011 class, just gotta make up ground on a few targets.
Was going to go to Kenner today, but suddenly not in the mood for hoops.

I dont think it is called Guard U because of these guys production in the league. I think they call it that cuz their guards lead the show in an up and down system that allows them to run pickup basically. If Ty was looking for that opportunity, he wasnt gonna get it here. Good luck to the young man. Would have loved to see him here. I really hope we get into some up and down transition and pressing more simply because those are the conditions these young top guards want to be in.
