Boncore is his mentor, guardian, advisor, etc. etc.
Taj Hawkins is the coach at PCA.

Ty really likes Our staff and GU over-all ...this I know first hand. Thanks Krukster! Great news. I have a good feeling. And the way the Hoyas are playing right now? Well, let's just say if a kid is watching our guys and is not DYING to be a part of it -- then there is something wrong with that kid and he belongs someplace else!I'm sorry, this is an idiotic statement! The reasons why a kid picks a school are many and varied. To intimate that "something is wrong if he's not DYING to be here" after watching our latest performance is idiotic. What about wanting to be here even if we aren't playing our best, like the end of the regular season, wanting to be here because of the coaching staff and the University and his chances of succeeding in this program. We are not the only team performing well at this time of the year, but I'm sure it doesn't hurt.

If so, disregard my post. Sorry SirSaxa Apology accepted zxhoya. Yes, my comment was tongue in cheek... and was also about a kid who is said to be very close to choosing GU -- or at the very least already has us at the top of his list -- maybe the VERY top. And -- he has a confirmed offer from GU -- not easy to come by. If that's the case, then he already knows coach, campus, team, academic situation, and all the other positives you accurately mentioned. If he is THAT close to announcing for GU AND he is watching the way our guys are playing right now ... I would think that's a winning combination -- even if I did phrase it for a chuckle.

More on the state final: blogs.mycentraljersey.com/hoopshaven/2010/03/14/group-iv-final-cherokee-52-plainfeld-38/"Powell on defending Tyrone Johnson: “Whether we played man or zone, every time he touched the ball we ran somebody at him. We wanted him to give it up and make some of those other guys make plays. We communicated on where he (Johnson) was any time he touched the ball and ran two people at him, so he had to give it up or he took bad shots,” Powell said. “If that happens it comes down to, are we going to rebound the basketball?” “We had another ace up our sleeve. We had a box-and-one for him and we were going to do the same thing out of the box. Whoever was near him was going to run and double-team him. We knew he was one of the best players in the state. He’s a hell of an athlete. We just can’t have one guy wreck you the way he’s been wrecking people all year.”

Based on his offer list on rivals - Virginia Tech, Rutgers, St. John's - and the fact that we have been on him for some time - I would say we are the clear team to beat in his recruiting.
He looks like a smart player in his videos. Not a lot of flash, but he finds the open man and has pretty good size for a PG. The reports also say he is a good defender - big plus. His shot is a little unorthodox, but he is not trying to be an NFL QB, so if they fall, I am fine with it.

Really? His shot looks picture perfect to me, it's a beautiful stroke.

Based on the video it looks to me like he shoots it off his right shoulder and has a low release point. I mean - he is draining them - so it doesn't appear to be a problem, but it is certainly not "picture perfect."

Boo Williams Invitational:
"One of the more impressive point guards on the day was Tyrone Johnson. Suiting up for Team Final, Johnson is at his best getting to the cup with his strength and athleticism, but don't leave him or else a jumper will be buried. When Gilchrist wasn't scoring, more often than not Johnson was."

Heavy Big East lean:
"Tyrone Johnson has offers from Villanova, Georgetown, Rutgers, Seton Hall, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Indiana, and UNLV. Also he has heard from UConn and Kentucky"

Virginia Tech picked up Marquis Rankin last week, so scratch them off.
Uconn picked up Shabazz Napier so likely the same deal with them.
G'Town or WVU imo..with UK and Villanova in the mix depending on their interest/other options.
