Methinks it's premature to think Rakeem and Johnson might be coming to Georgetown. Let's get one before talking of two.

Watching the video clips of him as a quarterback makes me think he might want to attend a Div I football school and play both sports. The kid is a seriously talented athlete and definitely would be a get if the Hoyas could land him, I'd take him over Cook.

I thought I saw somewhere that he said he wants to concentrate on basketball in college, but I could be thinking of some other player. Does anybody else out there recall this?

He said he most likely will play only hoops in college and envisions himself in the BE.

Who are our main competitors for him? Earlier in the thread, there is a quote that mentions RU, SHU, SJU, and Nova besides us. Would have to think that it would be between us and Nova on that one right? Are there other schools, unmentioned there, that are legit players for him?

What's his height? Rivals list him as 5'11 but I thought he was taller. Looks taller in the videos.

He's 6'2.
As for competitors, there will be more entering the picture soon (because of football, his recruitment hasn't taken off like other guys like Cook). There are SEC teams that have interest but I think he will play in the Big East.

Word around NJ is that he's almost definitely going to play only hoops in college. Heard that from a big Rutgers booster who said that Schiano isn't investing significant time in trying to make him RU's future QB, because people around him strongly believe it'll be hoops only.
There hasn't been a ton of coverage of his recruitment yet, but given their history of recruiting in the Garden State, I tend to think that both Nova and Duke might end up heavily in the mix. Both of those two are in a position to be pretty choosy, but if Johnson is as good as he seems I suspect they'll be in the hunt. Still, at present, no reason to think we won't have as good a shot as anyone.

Rick Pitino is probably another good bet.

He has also talked with Pops. Must know everyone at the program. Love AI. And with the way we've been playing lately.... we must have a really good shot. I sure would like to read about a VERBAL from him!

Yeah saxa it's no secret his affinity for the program. Nothing is guaranteed, but like I during Monroe's recruitment; Hoyas are mentioned 1st when asked. We'll see.

When are the next windows when Class of 2011 players typically verbal and/or sign? I would think the earlier the lock down the better for a player like Tyrone. Don't want the situation to explode into a free for all now that it is know more widely he is concentrating on basketball.

there's a spring signing period but 2011 people can't sign an LOI until the fall signing period. but they can verbal whenever they want.

There's no "verbal" period, but generally there's a window right after the college basketball season ends and before AAU gets going too much that a few people verbal (Summers did this, and maybe Sims? Maybe it's a Baltimore thing).
Then towards the end of summer/AAU season, there's usually a run. And then right before the signing period in November. But it doesn't really clump all that much.

Thanks, fellas. Why is Starks listed as Verbal and not Signed? Is he waiting for spring signing period? Is this cause for concern?

I dunno, He signed his LOI. Maybe because the AD never made an official release. But several sources have said it's in. so.

Okay - good. Our site's recruiting table lists Markel as verbaled and Lubick as signed. Good to know there is no cause for concern.
Let's ink Moses, Rakeem, and Tyrone and have a Top 10 team with a whole new crowd in a couple years.
Love that Georgetown is back to national prominence. LOVE IT!!!!
