Article about Tyrone Johnson and his Plainfield team winning and moving to 17-2. Johnson scored 31 of his team's 62 points. Here's an excerpt which mentions his offer from Georgetown: Naturally it was Johnson, who recently received a scholarship offer from Georgetown University, who led the charge. He scored the final five points of the third quarter and opened the fourth with steal and dunk before draining a 3-pointer from the right wing. www.mycentraljersey.com/fdcp/?1266079694432

If we could land this kid it would be a coup! He would fit perfectly in JTIII's system.

Sux. Such a bad game for him to take in. Some more salt in the wound. Ugh.

Maybe he thought that he could have been the difference maker for us...

Don't think it'll have any impact. Hoyas have put in the work. Let's see what happens

Not sure about you guys, but simple things like whether it is sunny or rainy when you visited a college or the quality of the tour guide when you took a capus tour or the personality of the admissions officer during your college interview made a HUGE impact on my experience and defeintely factored into whether I favored one school over another at the end of the day.
I'm not saying it will be the case for Tyrone, but a simple thing like catching the Hoyas on a really bad day against Rutgers may have an impact on his decision making. No, it's not the only factor to consider (especially if Georgetown has put in a ton of work on this kid and has had multiple positive connections), but we have to remember these recruits are in high school and what may seem minor to us may make a difference to the recruit.
If nothing else, i was unforunate timing and I think we all agree that we would much rather have our top recruiting targets take in a Duke/Nova performance instead of a USF/Rutgers performance.

The difference between most college students and recruited DI athletes, Ranch, is that most of us got hours (at most) of interaction with interviewers or on tour. And while the weather or the people did influence many of us, there's also other factors.
I imagine a player like Tyrone Johnson gets days and days of interaction with the coaching staff and players once you combine unofficials, officials, in homes, phone calls, etc. The interaction is also completely one on one.
In other words, he has much more information than we had about his potential college experience.

I'm sure he caught all the other games on TV....yes sucks he was at that debacle but don't think it will be a deciding factor.

Totally agree, guys. Thanks for additional context. I guess I'm still salty over Sunday's debacle...

Interesting note from ZagsBlog Georgetown is involved with both 6-9 senior center Moses Abraham of Temple Hills (Md.) Progressive Christian and 6-3 junior point guard Tyrone Johnson of Plainfield (N.J.). Both players watched the game on TV. Abraham is set to decide this weekend between Georgetown, Maryland, UCLA, Florida, Tennessee Seton Hall and Indiana. One report mistakenly had Johnson already verballing to the Hoyas, but his AAU coach, Derrick Bobbitt, says that’s not the case. “That’s not the case at all,” Bobbitt said. “While Ty continues to have interest in Georgetown, he is still wide open and looking forward to finishing out this high school season and going through the recruiting process.” www.zagsblog.com/2010/03/12/monroe-not-a-hoya-great-yet/#more-30029

Ty really likes Our staff and GU over-all ...this I know first hand. Thanks Krukster! Great news. I have a good feeling. And the way the Hoyas are playing right now? Well, let's just say if a kid is watching our guys and is not DYING to be a part of it -- then there is something wrong with that kid and he belongs someplace else!

People, use your brains. The "wavering" was an interpretation of the writer based solely on the now infamous comment from Abraham's attention whore coach about his decision may surprise him too. That's all. Stop making more out of it.
