Love the sounds of this kid. He will likely improve this season as he plays against elite prep school talent while at Brewster. Sign him up!

From the northstar blog, like the fact that his favorites are us, Texas A&M and Pitt, not only because we are in that group, but also because I think Texas A&M can be eliminated for a number of reasons(mostly distance and culture). IMO, Pitt will be the challenger....

LOL - eliminated because of "culture."
Joking aside, I think we should have Walker on our short list for 2010. Seems like a good fit and a big who has not "maxed out."

I mean seems silly, but you can't tell me that Canada and Texas are not almost opposites in terms of culture....in fact I'd say D.C. and Texas are almost opposites...

Telep on Walker in Scout recruiting forum:
"He looked like he's lost some weight since the last month. I think he's a mid level guy who if he falls in love with the game and his motor revs at a higher rate could be a steal. Bigs develop at their own pace so he's worth watching again and again. I'd say there was improvement since I last saw him but he's on the high level watchlist and not sure he's pushed hard enough to earn an offer yet.
DT"

washington dc is closer to life in the toronto than college station tx. gta has around 6 mill, dc around the same and college station less than 200 000. of course his personal preference hasn t really been made public.

For the record, Canada has its own Texas. It is called Alberta: oil, cowboys and rightwing politics.
That said, DC and Toronto are sufficiently similar as to make it an easy transition for Torontonians moving to DC. (The First Amendment fetish and greater neighbourhood segragation tend to stand out upon our arrival.) It would be a more difficult transition if Walker were moving to Alberta....
BTW Toronto hoops are for real despite the Raptors.

Walker had 13 and 10 yesterday in a semfinal win against Senegal in the Nike World Games.
The previous game he went for 12 points and 6 boards on 5-5 fg, 2-2 ft.

According to Scout article today, Kansas is starting to sniff around Walker:
"Maurice Walker- Here’s a sleeper prospect to keep an eye on down the road as a potential big man target. A big and strong Canadian, Walker made some waves playing for Team Takeover Canada. A space eating, physical insider, he’ll attend the same prep school (Brewster Prep) that produced current Jayhawks freshman Thomas Robinson. Interest is in the preliminary stages at this point, but he could be one to watch down the road."

I would love to have Mo at Gtown. Not sure what JTIII is thinking right now with respect to Mo because we are on Rakeem Christmas's (2011) short-list and he is an absolute stud. This is per rivals (take it with a grain of salt). As the article says, he needs to trim down:
"Pitt, Georgetown, Kansas, Marquette, and Texas A & M are the main ones to offer. Kentucky, UConn, and Memphis have all shown interest.

I feel like 3 is waiting to se how walker develops. If he slims down and continues to make progress I think 3 will put the pressure on.

Having multiple bigs would not be an issue. Look at UConn the past decade. They always have a rack of bigs and Cuse has done the same.

Supposedly Pitt is the leader, as of a couple weeks ago.

I get the feeling Pitt is his leader by default. But he just may commit if there are no other offers by November. That's how his quotes sound at least.
