I figured that I would start this because I'm sure there will be plenty of discussion and wasn't sure where to post this thought.
Is anyone else annoyed that Joe Lunardi pretends to be a Bracketology "expert" when it is completely obvious that he has sources within the Selection Room which result in him making changes in his bracket in the last day---often flipping two teams that haven't played in almost a week---so he can miraculously come up with a near perfect bracket?

Can I just say we choose the wrong years to be good in the Big East. We win the Big East Conference two years in a row, advancing to the BET Championship game both times, and winning it once, and we are rewarded with 2 seeds with very little chance of getting a one. This year the second place team and the third place get bounced in their first BET game, and the Big East Champion didn't even have to visit the 2nd or 3rd place Big East or play any of the top 4 seeds twice, and there is NO question they ALL deserve a one. I know this has more to do with the rest of the country being really down, but seriously? I would also like to add that the year we won both the Big East Tournament and the Big East Championship there were 8 Ncaa tournament teams in the Big East, and we STILL didn't get serious consideration.

Yep, its a sham A couple of rambling pre selection thoughts: - I know there is a lot of anti-Pitino sentiment here but I'm really on the Louisville bandwagon, they are just playing really kick ass basketball right now - There's gonna be a 2-15 upset this year, but it won't be that surprising because the losing team hasn't won a postseason game since a certain classic David vs Goliath match up in the phonebooth in 2006 - I don't see this Pitt team finally breaking the barrier, they just have the same weakness of being screwed if a game is called tightly

I agree blair willl get in foul trouble and they'll lose it'll be sweet 16 or elite 8 no final 4. I don't think Uconn will go down in a 2-15 upset especially since they deserve to be a #1 seed. Memphis does not. No where near as many quality wins.

They've won 3 NCAA games since then... I really like the way they play this year, btw - much more so than any Duke team since 2004. I think OU, Pitt, or L'ville will take it though, and UNC with an outside chance.

I like Lunardi but I see your point. There is something a little odd about someone having a 99% success rate on picking the field of 64 (although it's actually a lot less than that -- only 34 bids are really up for grabs and at least half of those are pretty easy to pick). If I were the NCAA, I'd be a little worried that his pronouncements put the committee a corner -- if he's really the bracket guru, then the committee has more to explain if they disagree with him. Arguably, it creates a disincentive to think out of the box when picking the field. I'm not sure that's such a good thing.

Uconn will flame out. Doesnt matter if they get a one seed or a 2 seed theres really no difference anyways.. They will still lose in the second round.

Thaaaaaat's right... I should have gone to that game - maybe I would have remembered it more clearly. Yeah, UCONN is going to eat it.

I still think this is Carolina's tournament to lose if Lawson is back to form. If I was Roy Williams, I'd consider sitting him for the first round just to be safe. But as we always do with the dance, we'll see what happens.

3 #1 seeds for the Big East. Wow. Scratch the Carolina comment, this is the Big East's tournament to lose. Let's bring the NCAA title back to the best conference in the land.

Man, the Big East better get at least 2 Final Four teams or the media jackals will be out in force.

By the way, I forgot how terribly depressing this selection show is when there's no way the Hoyas are getting an invite. It's torture - and hard to fathom, given where we were in mid-January. What a colossal failure.

Louisville could have the pleasure of playing Ohio State in Dayton Ohio. While that worked out ok for us, not the best reward for the #1 overall seed in the country.

Neither BYU nor A&M are beating UConn. Pencil them in for the Sweet 16. Hope we can get a Brockman/Thabeet matchup there, that would be fun. EDIT: Marquette's gooooooootta love that draw. I think they're definitely the favorite in that pod.

So UConn got the bump,
If the Terps get past Cal, Memphis is going to pound them

Terps won't beat Cal - Gary did a hell of a job getting that team in the tourney, though.
