Blurb from Northstar: Terrence Jones, List: Oklahoma, Indiana, Florida, Maryland, Arizona, Arizona State, Washington, Washington State, Oregon, Oregon State, Cal, Marquette, Georgetown, Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, and Kansas Favorites: “I plan on having favorites and narrowing [my list] down after this summer, so I can see who’s serious and what they’re systems are about.” Note- Jones listed seven of the 10 schools in the Pac-10 (all but Stanford, USC, and UCLA), so I asked him if playing in the Pac-10 is something he wants to do, and he replied, “I’m not really concerned with the conference, just what is best for me and [who] can get me better.” Do we have any notion as to whether Jones is strong academically? It struck me as odd that he would exclude Stanford and UCLA among the Pac-10 schools.

He is a pretty good student, certainly not an academic risk. I would not read much into who is on a kids list. dook recruited john wall, and wall is still waiting for someone to retake his SAT.

I also agree that we should put more faith in the guys on this board like RDF, Graeagle, tonydeals, balla, ect ect, than most of these small blurbs. Not only do they know more than all these scouts and writers about Gtown recruiting, they also are able to pay special attention to the Gtown recruits unlike the people that have to make these writeups about a hundred plus players. They also never sugar coat anything and are honest, positive or negative, which is special considering they are fans themselves. We generally know what we are getting with each player because of them, no one is ever really overhyped or underated, and that is something that is really unappreciated here imo. Not every board has such great insight and inside information, and sometime I worry we are going to scare them all away.
Back to Terrance, sounds like he is going to be a late commit if he is going to wait until after summer just to narrow down his list. Personally I think this is the best way to go. It also seems to be the best situation for us. One because it means we will have enough time to pick up the recruiting since we haven't been recruiting him the hardest. Also because if we do turn it around this season, and he waits until Spring, that would always leave a good impression. Lastly, if Greg does have a good season next year and comes out being guranteed a top 5 spot, having two guys picked in the top 5 playing Terrance's future position probably wouldn't hurt us either. But thats only if he waits till spring, and I have no idea how likely that is.

TJ had an excellent camp, doing a bit of everything as his team went undefeated and won the champ. His schedule is pretty hectic the rest of the summer, so he will not be taking anymore unofficial visits. The only schools he has taken unofficials to outside of his northwest area are Gtown, UNC, and cal. He is going to narrow his list at end of summer then set up his officials for the fall. He is in no hurry to make a committment.

Keep the discussion on the thread topic (Terrance Jones), not on back and forth bickering between posters.

It is amazing how much difference a year can make with prospects. Last year Terrence was about 6'6 and could not make a shot. This year he is about 6'8 and his game has really matured. He was doing a little of everything this past week at NBPA camp. But his ball handling and passing abilities for his size are really what stick out.

Just to add to what tonydeals had to say, I think it's pretty clear that Terrance has had a better spring/summer than Roscoe so far. I'll be surprised if Terrance isn't ahead of Roscoe when the next set of rankings comes out.

As per scout:
Playing primarily at the four and on the interior, it was interesting to see how Jones would respond when asked to play a different way than he’s accustomed to. Rather than sulk that he didn’t get to handle the ball on the perimeter as much as he is used to, Jones got to work on the offensive glass, hit turnaround jumpers and looked quite comfortable playing as a more traditional four. He’s not an off the charts guy in terms of measurable athleticism (vertical, end to end speed), but he's very fluid, has terrific instincts, and is quite clever in how he uses his body to create advantages at different spots of the floor.

again from scout:
Terrence Jones: The debate has raged all spring as to whether Jones is more of a three or a four on the college level. After the NBPA, it looks as if he's most comfortable playing as a four man who can put the ball on the floor and make plays for others. While not a high riser, he does have good length and has been excellent on the offensive glass.

Per Rivals:
Terrence Jones: continues to impress with his versatility. The big left hander scored, rebounded, passed and blocked shots at a high level throughout the day. He has a unique feel for the game and could be something special if he plays in a system that utilizes him as a facilitator and runs the offense through him.

Per Scout: PF, I-5: We know he’s been banged up the last month but he always answers the call. Against Boo, who is sorely missing James McAdoo, Jones came out making 3s before going to work inside. His traffic rebounds late went a long way toward sealing up the win. Kid’s got heart and game.

From Scout this morning:
"Terrence Jones, PF, I-5 Elite – One college coach said Jones had a “unique” game, and honestly that may be the best way to describe it. The 6-foot-8 face up forward goes about his business differently than most on the court because of his skill set and versatility.
Against Team Final, Jones proved himself defensively, as he drew the task of guarding Michael Gilchrist, and he held him to just five points. Offensively, Jones couldn’t fully get it going against Team Final, but he still finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds."

Per Scout on Peach Jam:
Even the college coaches who were watching him can’t seem to agree on what position he plays. Whether you want to call him a four man, a combo forward or a three, the common thing that comes up is that he’s very versatile and does a lot of things
