ideally, how do these last 2 spots round out?
Seems like Jones and Roscoe may be the same spot.
So, Roscoe and Kendrick/Odom
Miss on Roscoe, then Jones, Kendrick/Odom
?

That reads like a scouting report of DaJuan.

SF, I was thinking the exact same thing. The similarities are eerie.

I wonder why the scouting report didn't mention how many of those dunks he misses.

LOL- well thats why we have these kids visit and try to watch them play as MUCH as possible. honestly, alot of these scoutng reports--and i do not want people to think i am picking on this one- just say what a kid does good and bad and use arbitrary descriptive words......good shooter, rebounds well on both ends, versatile......ok well that could be jeff green or fill in the blank (won't pick on any particular kid)
with regards to terrance jones he is more of an all-court/perimeter player right now....but i see potential in him playing down low--especially if he gets taller/stronger. but he does not live down low like Jeff Green did in HS--so although i personally like to compare him to Jeff.....jeff was more polished with his low post game coming into college. but that is ok b/c for us Terrance would play the SF spot. we already got Lubick from this class as the PF. so a 6'8 SF like terrance jones would be a great get. One thing i know for sure.....terrance jones has much better handles than Dajuan.

Yeah - I have learned not to trust too many HS scouting reports, graeagle. 1. It seems like most gurus are much more interested in where a recruit is going than how good he really is. 2. Evaluating a skill as translatable is very hard. You almost have to learn codewords like "He tries to dunk everything" which means "can't shoot, has no low post skills," for example. 3. The guys writing them are spread so thing, "good shooter" means "he shot well the day I saw him." Aside from the top guys, the "gurus" probably watch these guys 40 minutes a summer. Not nearly enough to really get a great feel. And for the record, I wasn't using DaJuan as an insult. The guy was very good for us, and simply didn't develop into a superstar like we hoped. But he was a good player, for the most part.

Gtown is very interested in Jones and has been on him for a long time. He has already visited at least once and will probably be back soon. At 6'8-6'9, he is the perfect combo forward(SF/PF). With Nate developing into a nice PF/C, their games will complement each other nicely. Gtown taking a player like Jones will allow Gtown to take one of the wings: Roscoe, Kendrick, Odom.

Well RDF, Terrence has an offer from Gtown and if Gtown keeps recruiting him hard then you have a good chance of getting your wish.

scouthoops.scout.com/2/864661.htmlupdate on terrance up on scout. many schools from both coasts listed. here's a blurb: "Jones’ high school coach also confirmed that Jones is still open in the recruiting process. “As far as I know as well it’s definitely open and there’s no clear cut favorite,” Strickland said. “I know last spring when he was younger he liked Georgetown, but he’s pretty much wide open and he’s going to let everything run its course.” Jones will be in Atlanta next weekend for the Nike Classic. Tony, you gonna be in town?

Well I am officially captain of the Terrence Jones fan-club. I am not saying that I want him over all the other prospects, but I want this kid in a Hoya Brand Jordan uniform. Plus he is a great Democrat . His highschool team name is called the Democrats for anyone that wants to know why I mentioned that. Why would we ever recruit a Democrat?

Why would we ever recruit a Democrat? To aggravate folks like you, no doubt.

Sounds like we need to hope that Terrance's heart ultimately remains with the Hoyas. It sounds like we should have a leg up against other Big East schools, but we'll still need to ward off the Kansases, UCLAs and Dukes most likely. Plus, I'm sure the Oregon Knights will be making a big push.

If he wants to come back then great, but that is a good problem to have either way

We need to consider ourselves very lucky that we have a lottery pick who chose to return to school for another year. That only seems to happen at Georgetown.

That's not exactly true. Probably 50% of the lottery picks for this who haven't just finished their freshman year or foreign would have been lotto picks last year. Blake Griffin, James Harden, Thabeet, Earl Clark (possibly) and that is just this year. You also have the Florida guys who returned to repeat as champs in 2007 who would have been lotto picks after 2006. Someone with a better memory than me can probably add more names to this list.
