We need to consider ourselves very lucky that we have a lottery pick who chose to return to school for another year. That only seems to happen at Georgetown. Exactly, we should just enjoy that we have Monroe this season. Two years is all any of us wanted for Monroe, and that is exactly what we are getting. Win/Win for all.

Terrence's Team(I-5 Lil Deals) advanced to the semifinals Monday morning 9am. Terrence is playing at an insane level. Other players will get more hype from this tournament, but there is none that are any better.

Final 4 for tomorrow are I-5, Team STAT (won in OT), Lousiana Select (beat baltimore select--game decided in last 5 seconds), California Supreme (beat boo Williams in double OT).
I-5 Elite made it to the semis on a Terrence Jones shot that crawled around the rim for a couple of seconds and went through at the buzzer to give I-5 a two point Overtime win over Albany City Rocks.
Kid has a knack for the winning shot.
sounds like a great final 4.

basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=949046here's a blurb: "Day two at the Nike Memorial Day Classic was excellent. The competitiveness and desire was on full display all day long, and that led to some intense games with super finishes. In the end the one player who might have shined the brightest was Terrence Jones. I-5 Elite played in two excellent games on Sunday, and Jones put his entire game on display both times. First in a matchup with Team Texas, Jones showed every bit of his versatility. Jones proved that he could definitely play small forward or power forward, depending on the system he ends up in, and with that he is such a tough matchup for opposing teams. Against Team Texas, Jones was simply too much. He scored with his back-to-basket, played excellent defense both inside and on the perimeter, rebounded with authority, and made his teammates better by setting them up. At the moment he really prefers to go left off the drive, but on a few occasions he showed that he is more than capable of using the right to get to the rim and score. With his big frame and solid athleticism, Jones is usually too quick for power forwards, and too strong for small forwards, while at the same time showing an ability to defend both spots. While Jones was good against Team Texas, he saved his best for last. In an overtime thriller against Albany City Rocks, Jones once again went to work, but this time it was all about his play when the game matters the most. With I-5 Elite trailing by one and time winding down, Jones used a quick and powerful left hand drive to get himself in a position to score. From there he attempted a highly contested mid-range floater, that bounced high off the rim and fell through the net as time expired. The shot was not only big because it got I-5 Elite into the semi finals, but also it showed that when the game is on the line Jones is someone who demands the ball. That type of attitude is always needed in a star player, and Jones more than proved his worth on Sunday."

From scout:
"It’s been a huge spring for the highly versatile and skilled forward from Portland. Point blank, the kid is a winner who causes mismatches whenever he’s on the floor. The lefty can handle, passes at a high level, knocks down some perimeter shots and is dangerous in the post. He’s already got two state titles under his belt on the high school level and he’ll be looking to add a major grassroots crown on Monday. His runner at the buzzer in overtime of I-5’s win over the City Rocks crawled around the rim for a good two seconds before dropping through the net and setting off a massive celebration for the crew from Portland."

Well, i love this kid. top 5 nationally i do not know. Terrance for instance has gotten ALOT better since last summer. Also, last summer he was 6'6 and now he is at least a legit 6'7 and still growing. so the top 5 player list is always changing as these kids continue to get better/older. The talent this past weekend was much better in Atlanta than North Carolina. And by all my reports Terrance was at least a top 5 player in Atlanta. I think it is fair to say that Terrance Jones can play with anyone in this class and should be a top 20 kid no doubt.
I do agree with RDF that location and exposure play a huge role in rankings so Terrance will always be lower than he should be. I think right now he is like in the 40 range.....although ESPN has him at #15 in his updated rankings.
terrance right now is projecting to be a SF/PF in our system. Greg is more of the PF/C. However they are both similar in that they can be the "hub" if need be.

Good points RDF. Best "fit" is a lot more important than best player for Gtown. Gtown has been fortunate to have that best/fit player every couple of years that fills the "hub" Point-Power-Forward type. Terrence is about the same size as Jeff was at this point, although Jeff was leaner. Terrence is a much better ball-handler than Jeff was at this stage, and a better passer(hard to believe). Of course Terrence has been playing PG most of his life. Jeff was a better post player and could score with both hands better.
Rankings are so subjective/political, which is why we never worry about those things. For instance Harrison barnes is NOT the number one player in the country. If Barnes played in DC he would be exposed and ranked behind Roscoe/Barton/Shelby. Barnes torched Dawkins for 40pts this weekend, but Dawkins is an average defender. When Barnes went against the B-more kids, he was clearly outclassed. Still a good player but not top three good. He is just more polished than a most other players right now.

Like I said with Kendrick...him and Jones are the two guys i want for 2010. I know you need some back-up plans like a KC ross-miller and such but we should go "all-in" on those two and try to get a commitment by early signing period this november. I like Terrence more than Roscoe.

Seeing as this would pretty much cement our '10 class as our best in a long while, how much of a chance do we have at this guy and please don't sugarcoat it for me.

Gtown has a very good shot at him, but he has gone through the process correctly. So people just have to be patient and let it play out. As for the tournament, Terrence's team lost in the semi-finals to Cali Supreme and a close tough game. Terrence was excellent all weekend, which is important because he is now showing a sustained and consistent high level of play like he did throughout his season at Jefferson this year.

Seeing as this would pretty much cement our '10 class as our best in a long while, how much of a chance do we have at this guy and please don't sugarcoat it for me. From an interview last week on Rivals: "Jones told GOAZCATS.com on Tuesday that the main schools he's hearing from right now are Arizona, Oklahoma, Indiana, Florida, Washington and Washington State." He has also stated repeatedly that he is still wide open. And when he gives his long list of schools that have offered and that he's considering we are usually in there. So I think we've certainly got a shot but he hasn't really given any indication that we are a favorite or anything. He is pretty clearly a player on the rise right now so all the big boys will be on him hard. In order to convince him to come all the way to DC we will have to really make an impression, and if we aren't one of the teams that comes to his mind as recruiting him the hardest (based on quote above), then we're playing catch-up in that regard. The guy clearly has a lot of fans on this board (me included and I have liked him a while) but I personally think it's probably an outside chance. It's possible that over the next 4 months or so (assuming he is a fall signee) that we will really win him over, but I haven't read anything to make me feel too confident about it. Only advantage I can think of is the fact that his sister is going to Howard, and as a result he stopped by campus last summer, but he hasn't really tipped his hand in any way to make me think he is high on Georgetown. Only time will tell.
