Yeah, it would be our best since that long ago 2008 class. Ah, those halcyon days! Valid....but I would claim that '10 would have a more immediate impact. Well, maybe. I just think it would be remarkably similar in terms of ranking, and the impact will probably be determined less by their skills and more by the current players on the team (for example, if Chris is still at GU, does Markel have more impact than Jason? Lubick and Jones would be down low, but how much PT they get would be somewhat dependent on who is still here and how good they are as well).

ESPN Review of Jones from this weekend's AAU Tournament...this guy sounds like an absolutely perfect fit for the system:
"Terrence Jones (6-8, 210, S/PF) 2010, Portland, Ore./Jefferson
Jones has a great body and is a versatile forward who scores inside and out. He has a nice stroke from behind the 3-point arc and can also play with his back to the basket or out of the high post. He is skilled playing with his face to the basket and can put the ball on the floor and create his own shot and has a good feel passing the ball out of the post. He is a great offensive rebounder who is quick off the floor and pursues the ball relentlessly. Jones is a smart player; he sees the floor well and understands the game. He plays under control and doesn't force the action. On the defensive end, Jones gives good effort, and he can guard all five spots. He has the ability to be a shut-down defender, if he puts his mind to it. He is clearly one of the top players in the Class of 2010."

Blurb from scout: Not surprisingly, the offers from college coaches have come in for Jones who listed: Maryland, Florida, Indiana, Oklahoma, Georgetown, Arizona, Washington, Texas,Washington State, and California among the many schools that have offered. In addition, he’s been hearing more from North Carolina."
Jones would like to cut down his list and set up visits, but it’s not likely to happen until the end of the summer. It’s one that will keep him busy as he makes stops at the NBPA Camp, Vince Carter Skills Academy and the LeBron James Skills Academy along with more stops with the I-5 Ballers.
When he does make a decision, a staff’s proven ability to develop incoming talent is going to play a key role. “I’m looking to see if I fit the system and if I like the coaching staff,” said Jones. “Do they get guys to the NBA? Do they get you better? The experience of the coaching staff, all of that plays in.

Rivals blurb: Last summer, Jones projected as a 6-foot-6 small forward. The lefty impressed with his ballhandling and passing abilities, but he was an average long-distance shooter and had average quickness for a small forward. Hence, his ranking was in the middle of the four-star range. This spring, however, I was taken aback when I saw Jones. If he is not 6-9 now, he is awfully close. He still has his advanced ballhandling and passing skills, and his shot appears to be improving. As a skilled four man at 6-9, and with above-average quickness for his new position, Jones' stock rose to the top of the four-star range. I have a hunch that by the end of the summer, Jones will convince Rivals.com that he is a five-star prospect and a future pro. As to where Jones will end up is a tossup among a bunch of schools. He has said that he is not anchored to the West Coast; he has family scattered across the country and his former teammate and friend Terrence Ross is a Maryland commitment attending Montrose Christian on the East Coast. Schools such as Arizona, Florida, Georgetown, Indiana, Maryland, Oklahoma and a number of Pac-10 schools have offered, and a couple of traditional powers in North Carolina and Kansas are keeping up with Jones

If a coach getting players to the NBA is a critical factor for Jones, that would seem to eliminate Arizona, California and Washington State at the very least. That comment would seem to set up favorably for JT III!

I really like how he is handling the process. I'd expect a fall decision. BTW. Even if Summers gets just gets drafted in the second round, that will be three consecutive years that Gtown has had a 6'8 combo forward drafted into the NBA. And Terrence is a 6'8 combo forward. Yep, some guys are just clutch. They just have that "it" factor. hmm, who does that remind me of: Big East clutch: NCAA clutch: NBA clutch: Mix (have not seen in awhile. Caution about language) Look out birdman!

blurb from scout on Pangos camp:
Much like Barton, Jones, a 6-foot-8 combo forward, has had an impressive spring, and if he continues to be aggressive and score the way he did on Friday then he’ll continue to move up the charts. Using his massive wingspan and intensity, he hit the offensive glass and was a major problem for the opposition. The lefty often times settles too much offensively, but he is the owner of a much-improved jumper and has become much more aggressive on both ends.
of note johnny dawkins and mcdermott were there b/c their sons are in the camp. nice loophole there.

Don't be surprised if Terrence visits the Hilltop again after he attends the NBPA top 100 camp in Virginia this July. He will probably visit Gtown and the turtle place also.

Man I want this guy in a Georgetown uniform!!!! I think we have a great shot just cause of all the surrounding things. Has fam on the east coast......... has a family member i believe(correct me if Im wrong) that goes to Howard. And Terrence Ross is going to be at Maryland. Gotta like our chances. When most college offenses dont allow big guys like him to handle and make decisions with the ball in their hands like we do.

The Gtown SYSTEM certainly highlights and plays to Terrence's strengths. I always thought Jeff and Monroe were the perfect player/fit, but Terrence might be an even better fit because he has more versatility. Terrence at some point in time will probably play all five positions in the Gtown system. If you notice over the years when GU has had a big that can handle the ball Pat/Greg, JT3 has let them basically run the point from the top of the key and go to work.

Blurb from NBN: Terrence Jones dominated Sunday’s morning session at the Pangos. Jones has a great inside-out game. His post game is far more advanced than most. His left-handed jumper extends out beyond the 3-point arc, moreover, he knocks down shots with regularity. He possesses all the tools NCAA Division I coaches look for in a prospect

Shall we see if we can get this one up to 50 pages? He seems like an ideal GU recruit. I think we would gladly like to see this thread go WAY over the latavius thread Terrence recap: Jones played well in the Pangos Top 25 Cream of the Crop game Sunday afternoon. Interesting thing about Jones was, often times, he’d end up getting the DEFENSIVE REBOUND and leading the break instead of finishing plays at the rim. And he did a good job of distributing the ball, making good split-second decisions, especially for a kid with his frame. Mind you, he’s is every bit of 6'8-6'9. Terrence is a real Point Power Forward. He Displayed a great skill set. It was an all star game so scoring wings like Barton and Harrison Barnes(who got mvp), put up better scoring numbers. But Terrence plays WINNING basketball, and is only going to get better.
