Coach went and got greg who was a perfect fit for the system. I'm very confident that if there's a player that fits great in the system that three will be able to go out there and get him.

Yep, Terrence has that ability like Greg to control the game without scoring, or you could call it being the ultimate facilitator. Speaking of Greg, lets just pencil Terrence into Greg's spot after Monroe leaves this year

I selfishly hope Greg explodes this year....dominates the big east...is considered the best big man in the country, and guys like jones see this and want to be the next guy to continue the legacy.
It sounds like Jones will be a fall commit however... so maybe monroe totally dominating kenner will do the trick:).

Well now that Gtown is done with 09 recruiting, expect JT3 to focus more attention on Terrence and the rest of the 2010 guys once the live recruiting period begins. Now JT3 knows he will have at least 2 more schollies for 2010(Monroe and a vacant), so Gtown can turn up the heat in recruiting Terrence. rivals blurb: Jones made a strong statement this weekend to move into the five-star range. Very few players his size can make plays off the dribble the way Jones can, and when he gets his feet set, he is also a three-point shooting threat.

Gra, if you were to guess at this point, who would the top 2 targets be for JT3 in the 2010 class out of the group of Jones, Roscoe, Barton, Kendrick, etc?

Rivals article this weekend says Jones articulated "the schools recruiting him the hardest" are Oklahoma, Arizona, Indiana and Washington.

<sarcasm> No way he's coming here. If Terrance wanted to be a Hoya, he would have committed by now. </sarcasm>

Blurb from scout: Terrence Jones got a versatile game. We would like to see him spend a little more time in the paint offensively, but he's a crafty scorer. Also he played GREAT defense on Harrison Barnes in the all-star game, which was one of the more competitive AS games I'd seen in a while. In fact it was the best job we'd seen anyone do on Barnes all year, as he used to length to block a few of his shots, and did a pretty good job of staying in front of him. He's having a great spring and you'll see that in his recruitment

ESPN Review of Jones from Pangos camp this past weekend:
"Terrence Jones (6-8, 220, PF) 2010, Portland, Ore./ Jefferson
Jones is one of the more unique talents in the country. He is a hybrid 4-man who can hurt his defenders in a variety of ways. He isn't overly quick or explosive, but he is well-put together and does a nice job utilizing his bulk and length. He can knock down shots beyond the stripe or attack his opponent off the dribble. His jump shot is solid, but he does have a slow release and it isn't real smooth. He has a quirky first step to the basket, but because of his strength and long arms Jones is able to get to the rim consistently. If his path gets cut off, he is a willing passer. However, he does settle too much for perimeter shots, and he needs to use his big frame and length to punish defenders in the post. In addition, Jones needs to show a willing desire to defend. He plays to straight up and down. As a result quicker 4-men can blow by him from the perimeter."

I really like the quote on him defending ESPN's #1 player in the country(granted overrated but w/e) Harrison Barnes....

Yeah, Jeff and Pat Jr were a bit stiff(played straight up and down) when they first got to Gtown also. I think JT3 can teach Terrence a few things

You guys are killing me. I'm starting to get visions of Jeff with this guy... Hopefully III lands him. Yeah, Terrence is a left version. Built like a PF, but with SF skills. Hopefully if TJ comes to Gtown he will develop into another great combo forward that can play SF in the NBA. If you look at what NBA teams like the Thunder, Magic, and previously Suns are doing, they are really playing two SFs. Terrence is like Jeff and Hedo Turkolu type player, which is perfect for Gtown. I also noticed in looking at the NBA draft measurements that Jeff was 6'7 3/4 w/o shoes. So if Terrence is anywhere between 6'7-6'8 without shoes also, he should excel. Heck, Pat was only 6'6 without shoes and Summers 6'7'1/4. So Terrence should fit well.

This is from Slam's recap of Pangos Camp: (interesting comparison ;D) –Terrence Jones, 6-9 combo forward, Jefferson (OR), Class of 2010: Jones, one of my favorite kids to watch at this camp, is a versatile ballhandler with size who can do damage inside and out. Somewhat reminiscent of Jeff Green (probably a better shooter and dribbler at the same stage than Green a late bloomer; the former Georgetown star might have had a better post game), Jones is pretty much a point forward who handles better than most guards, attacks off the dribbles, sees the court well, gets to the rim from the perimeter and pushes the ball in transition. On top of that, he can knock down treys, rebound the ball on both ends and uses his solid frame and athleticism to finish through and over defenders. It's nice when non-Hoya fans can make that comparison so easily!

Great. Now I'm going to be severely disappointed if we don't get him. Or irrationally excited if we do.

i think graeagle and rdf should be banned from posting in this thread. every time they post something about jones, a more compelling case is made as to why jones should be a hoya. and every fan is thinking we need to get this guy. don t put anything else here unless it is a verbal commitment.
