I wonder if it made the breaking news bar on espn like they did for oden last night?? did i really need to know that he had scored 4pt in the first quarter? thats not breaking news, thats a box score. anyway at least roy isnt getting pushed around.

Sounds like he inadvertently hit a guy with an elbow.

Say it ain't so, Roy. Hurts his ppg and rpg averages. I expect him to beat out Beasley for ROY award.

At least Roy was the leading scorer for the Indy centers with 6 pts in 13 min.

Yeah, from that message board link in the first post, it seems like Indy fans were happy w/ how he looked for those 13 minutes. Good for him! And in the NBA, as a center with a reputation for playing "soft," you need to show right out of the gate that you can man up. It didn't look intentional at all, but at least it shows he was using his body (arm-joints and all) to get where he needed to be.

Here's the local paper coverage of the game: Hibbert didn't get the full experience.
He spent the final 8:27 of the Pacers' 105-71 loss to the Hornets in the locker room after being ejected for hitting center Melvin Ely with an elbow.
"I didn't think I was going to be ejected in my first game," said Hibbert, the No. 17 overall draft pick.
Hibbert caught the ball near the foul line when he swung his arms to clear space between himself and Ely. The rookie connected with Ely's nose.
Hibbert was given a Flagrant 2, which meant an ejection, and a possible fine and suspension by the league.www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081009/SPORTS04/810090508/1004/SPORTS

Roy getting ejected, a fine and maybe a suspension...if i had told you that these things would have happened in his first season (let alone game) you would have slapped me across the face. You may have even slapped me if i told you i would happen at any point in his career.

Thanks for the video. Anyone else think Roy looked weird in that Pacers' jersey?

looks to me like a flop coach K would be happy with. i understand that this guy ely got hit in the eye last season or something, but did he really think roy did that intentionally?? i think ely should have gotten a foul too for his way over the top reaction. if zo can get a tech for the finger wag to the fans then ely should for a middle finger to another player.

Agreed. It looks as if Roy got ejected, because of the theatrics that Ely was using.
