From the NERR:
``Coach (John) Thompson called it the Georgetown Matrix," Lubick told Fox Sports. "If you take basketball out of the equation, you've still got one of the best academic schools in the country. If you take out the academics, you've still got one of the top basketball programs. And if you take both out of the equation, you're still right in Washington, D.C. - the most powerful city in the country."
It's rather odd how poorly the other articles transcribed that quote. How did they lose such a colorful and soundbite-worthy line like "The Georgetown Matrix" for example and just drop the entire statement to something so bland?
P.S.- Blue Pill or Gray Pill?

This is from the New England Recruiting Report: " Lubick will receive plenty of praise for committing to a place like Georgetown, a school that combines the best in academics and athletics. But ultimately, while his decision is certainly impressive, the way that he went about making his decision is even more impressive. He never let race become a factor and instead picked the program and school where he felt most comfortable." www.newenglandrecruitingreport.com/news/article/569/Lubick-Picks-Georgetown.phpThanks AGH... leave it to you to take the high road.

And just like that we've opened up a whole new realm for possible quotes on the WAG shirt...

Which other articles? Ack, the FoxSports blog posted about Lubick twice, I didn't notice they had the original version of the quote in the first post, which is presumably the source NERR used. The Rivals version provided by SFHoya, though, dumbed it down to- "I mean the school speaks for itself," said Lubick. "The academics are top of the line. The basketball program is outstanding. D.C. is the most powerful city in the world. The Hoya meanwhile used a different quote altogether (from their own interview with Lubick): “Basically just the school, academically, it’s a great institution,” he said. “D.C. is a great area, basketball wise its top of the line and it is consistency going to be top of the line. Coach Thompson is such a great coach.”

Totally agree RDF. that thread is disgusting. I won't even go into the details/trash about what is being said in that thread. It is embarrassing. I am a calm person so it takes alot to get me a little mad. I can't look at that site until they take that thread down. JERRY MEYER IS A SCUMBALL. He edited out the "bad parts"--and left thread up and said "there is nothing wrong with discussing this". If you have to edit a thread--and think "there is nothing wrong" I think that defeats the point. This will not be forgotten and in my eyes he's a biggot.

Like I have always said, Jerry Meyers is garbage as a human being. Nobody should be surprised that he and his toad Justin Young would allow the race baiting on Rivals. The fact that Meyers is the lead guy at Rivals, speaks volumes about Rivals and Yahoo. Sure wish Microsoft had bought them out. But I do not want to hear anyone question my animus for Meyers/Rivals again

Man, I sure hope he can find a few white kids around campus. It'll be tough those first few weeks though, what with the predominantly black population just oppressing him.

I remember hearing a story about the recruitment of Patrick Ewing (or maybe it was Alonzo) where the player's mother expressed concern that he wouldn't fit in on the predominantly white GU campus. Big John told her that if her son couldn't have a social life as a black man in DC, there was something wrong with him.
I think the inverse is true here; if you can't find white people at Georgetown, you probably aren't looking very hard.

Great pick-up. It appears that JT III is recruiting students that will be around for at least 3 - 4 years. Perhaps Meyer is not aware of Omar, Nikita and Brian.

ron bailey has an excellent story about lubick and his recruitment on hoyareport. it deals with as ron puts it "his critical thinking" regarding the white/black angle in his recruitment.

the racist maryland thread that talked about how anti-white we are somehow devolved into a discussion about how georgetown students are skanks because we dont sell condoms on campus and that's how the norovirus spread

New article: www.milforddailynews.com/sports/local_sports/x1937572446/The-Beat-Hoya-paranoiaThe reasons for choosing the Hoyas were plentiful. "First of all, it's a great academic school, (one of the) hardest schools to get into," said Lubick, who is still only a junior at St. Mark's. "Being in Washington, D.C., is relatively close to home. The Big East is a great conference, and coach (John) Thompson (III) is a great coach and a great person. "They're fighting for the Final Four every year, and the style of play - the Princeton offense - requires players that play like me."
