At long last, the real story about Chris. Keep plugging, Chris, we're ready for you whenever you arrive on campus.

If this story is true, I have to think he'd be better off someplace less demanding on the academic side than Gtown.

That was the same thing I was thinking. Though who am I to say what he can or can't accomplish? Still, I can't imagine going to school, any school, with such a stigma like that hanging around my neck. Brave kid.

Really depends what it is -- I know a guy who had a learning disability, and teachers all thought he was just stupid, but after being diagnosed and getting help, he went on to get honors grades in college and was on bar review in Law School.
I wish the kid the best.

Yeah this isn't very clear about what the disability is. If it's the kind of thing that work and structure can overcome, then more power to him, and I hope he toughs it out. If it's the kind of thing that just prevents him from retaining no matter what he does, then it might just be too much.
Fortunately, if he does make it to GU, I'm assuming that he would get set up with a quality tutor. That's a safe assumption, right?

Interesting article. Yet another reason we try to prevent people from posting unverified rumors about recruits and players here - they read it and when it's off base, it is incredibly unfair.

In fact, going to a school that is more difficult but is more willing to work with him is probably easier, from what people I know with disabilities have said. You want a smaller, more flexible school. John Thompson, Jr. had to go through something similar, though people were less understanding in his time. And he seems like a pretty smart guy.

... and was on bar review in Law School. Did you mean law review? It doesn't take much to be on bar review. I have hope for Chris. From the article at least, it sounds like he's a good kid in a tough situation and wants to do his best. Here's hoping he makes it through, suits up for the Hoyas next year, and has a successful academic career.

Actually a school like Georgetown usually have the resources and programs necessary to give people with disabilities the necessary attention, rather then being a number on a tutor waiting list at a big state school. I'll be rooting for him to make it

"This has been going on for three or four years," said Braswell's mother, Lesa. "He's frustrated because he sees the Internet and sees what people are talking about him. They talk about him not going to Georgetown, that he's not graduating this year."
Nothing but the best of luck to Chris.

Good read.
Logistically speaking, could he actually enroll at Georgetown for the second semester? I thought we had a pretty strict policy against that. I'd have no problem with an exception, given these particular circumstance, but I'm not quite sure how the policy works.

Finally, we know what's going on with him. We had to find out through the Post and not through the administration. I'm surprised that he hasn't signed. It goes to show how JTIII always keeps his cards close.
Hey, Chris, you have our support and understanding. Keep working hard. listen to your parents and mentors, and you'll see the results. Good luck to you and we'll be waiting for you.

I doubt that anyone in the administration is allowed to comment on an unsigned player. Even if they were, why would they and what would they say?

Like you, I don't know those rules. I just leads to a lot of speculation on this board, as well as others. If we had any doubts about who is reading what, this article showed that kids like Chris read the Internet boards as well and could get down on themselves with the negative, rumor-based posts. I'll definitely be more careful on what I post re: recruits' status, who I want to come to GU, etc...

For what it's worth, I think the article shows a lot of maturity on his part. Tough for a young kid to face up to problems and not rest on a feeling of invincibility. And the level of commitment he's shown to the program is also really impressive. Let's hope that he gets the help he needs to help him continue to develop as a person.

Yeah, it's definitely something to take note of, but also, if these kids are going the route towards professional athlete, this is something they have to come to terms with. If this TalkBoard is going to throw a kid too badly, then imagine what national media will do to him, both at GU and the next level, if he's fortunate enough to make it.

He looks good early in the game. Henry with a face up jumper and Jason with a 3.
