Sean Stewart's brother is a sophomore at Howard: hubison.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/miles-stewart/7762This one's a done deal. Given the kid's background/family, Georgetown's a perfect fit for him. Hopefully we don't have to expend too much in NIL, his family is obviously well-to-do. It would be great if we can save on Stewart and still have enough to bring in Cliff O. If we do that, I'll get over the fact that we will have 3 guys that are all 6'9", 220-230 pounds, none of whom can guard a true high major 5 man. Excellent attempt at the reverse jinx - with a dollop of damning with faint praise - Trolly McTrolly.

Ultimately, I don’t care about this debate, though. I’ve been disappointed by the three (so far) outgoing transfers among the five guys we had penciled in as returners. Not so much from a pure talent perspective, because (assuming we get a commitment from a big soon) we’ve upgraded at all of their positions. But I would have liked some retention/stability for stability’s sake. I know that guys who were starters aren’t going to be keen on moving to bench roles once recruited over, but it’s kind of annoying to think we might end up having to backfill the with new transfers to have enough players to field a whole team. I’m happy we’re upgrading talent too, and hopefully once the winning starts some continuity may follow. But it is funny to think back on the in-season debate about the supposed “core” that the staff was building in year one. Anyway, better to look forward.

Agree wholeheartedly on the documents case. That said, griping about Judicial conduct strikes me funny here. In what way would that strike you as funny? These people have no sense of humor - which is one of their scariest characteristics, actually - so what they find “funny” doesn’t usually translate.

I have a hunch this is a kid who is going to over-deliver for us. EC had a bunch of those type of transfers in his PC days. Curtis feels like one of those. Excited to see him play.

If I recall from last year, Dickinson's decision went well into mid-late May. I feel that if he's visiting Georgetown this weekend and Alabama next weekend that we won't have to wait too long. In my mind, landing this commitment would be a big deal and greatly elevate our ceiling for next year. Alabama is always going to have splashier facilities, dorms, etc., so in that sense we likely cannot compete. But, we may be able to compete for NIL. I doubt it has much significance these days, but I would think playing in DC would be more appealing than Tuscaloosa. Of course, that location doesn't hurt their football team at all. So it's probably not very relevant. Tuscaloosa is a fun place to play right now. I live down in Alabama. The arena is sold out for pretty much all the SEC games right now. Coleman isn’t a great facility, but it’s rocking. I can never get cheap tickets anymore. As for the perception of where he’s going, I don’t think he’s viewed as an Alabama lock. I checked Roll Bama Roll for football news this morning, and they made mention of him. Noted that he would be a good get but that there will be plenty of competition. Yeah he’s definitely not a lock to Bama. Not impossible for him to wind up there yet, but recent tea leaves have him trending in a direction that would cause a massive freak out round these parts.

Beautiful to see the Mack commitment affirmed (seems like nothing is real in CBB until Tipton posts it). Obviously we are also in the hunt for a rim protector, with Cliff Omoruyi perhaps our top target. And we have a newfound alliance with Team Takeover, while hopefully achieving at least detente with Team Durant. Once we find a center, assuming nobody else breaks for the portal in the meantime—no guarantee of that, clearly—that would leave us with a roster of: Guards: Mack, Epps, Mulready, Guard TBD (Ben Hammond?) Wings: Peavy, McKenna, Fielder, Williams Bigs: Center TBD, [edit] Sorber, Cook, Mutombo?? Where are the remaining gaps? [deleted, transfer speculation] If Cliff O turns down our NIL bag, what other big men could we target/are we targeting? Is Hammond the right fit assuming he’d want to stick with Kenny J? It gets very, very tricky from here. You're now at a point where you of course want to upgrade, but you have at least one guy at each spot that you are either already happy with or think you can be very happy in a year or two if they stick around and develop. So signing virtually anyone may well lead an existing piece to leave. Will take this tricky over 2-18 tricky though. Keep cooking Ed!!!

If you, PR and Boya turn positive on us we might be out of balance! 😃 Brother, I go way back from before you, boya and the like even knew what a Hoya was. This player may or not have been celebrating a fraudulent win at Cap One last season. This is like schoolgirl stuff - leave the discord information to the paying customers. I don't understand the urge to come over here and do this.

Honestly, was this worth posting? This board is reaching the level of farce. Your schtick is old at this point. Basically everything you post criticizes other posters, be it me, your new target TC, or others. At least I post substantive things about basketball throughout the season, something you rarely do. If there is a farce on this Board, it's not me. And for what it's worth, there was a discussion over posting social media stuff here. I happen to agree with the Admin that it's gotten a bit much at times. That's why I commented on what I think makes sense, and what doesn't. If you don't like what I post, ignore it. Then you don't have to read my posts, and you won't have to waste time with your criticisms. Win, win for all involved. Noted. I usually skim over your frequent bloviations, but this one regrettably drew me in. Just not certain there was a need to pontificate on whether a tweet quote post is worthy of the board or not. Maybe just leave that between the poster and the mods? It’s not up to a vote or anything. But as the board’s resident Dell Griffith, you are compelled to weigh in. Hey, you do you.

Even though I shouldn't, I will throw in my two cents: 1. I like to see news posted about the Hoyas. hoyaboya does this a lot with recruits, and it's interesting to see it. Basically, he is taking the effort to aggregate news about players who are interested in Georgetown, and does often comment on them. Even though we disagree a lot on things, I can appreciate that effort. 2. That said, I think there is a difference between that, and the Casual Hoya tweet, which is really just a flashy headline meant to get clicks, and perhaps serve as a stand in to a poster saying that point him or herself. If you actually look at the post, there's no bite to the title, and the post consists mostly of linking to other people's material. My own thought would be that newsy type posts (from at least semi-reputable people) from social media can be useful without commentary. But opinion posts from social media or that are just click bait headlines like Casual's really have limited value to all of the rest of us. Honestly, was this worth posting? This board is reaching the level of farce.

GU, Texas, UVA in Mack's final 3 according to Trilly. Visits beginning this weekend.
Thinking that Cuse/Vandy no longer being listed is a good sign for our chances and gives a higher degree of probability that KJ is somewhat involved despite the program for whatever reason refusing to publicly acknowledge his or anyone else's hire. HoyaTalk Rule #1, posted by the same Admin who this morning says I'm not allowed to post Tweets without context (even though other posters do it all the time, including other board admins, and there is not a rule against it): "1. Avoid posting material from subscription sites or message boards." hoyatalk2.proboards.com/thread/13110/message-board-rules-updated-27can you limit your persecution complex posts to a single one?

At the end of the day, I think Rowan and Cooley aren’t a good fit together. I think both will succeed moving forward and it’s best they figured that out now instead of during the season. Why?

Sorry if this has been posted before, but it's sad that if Georgetown had made the effort, it likely could have hired either Dan Hurley or Kevin Keatts in 2017 ... Hurley's people definitely were throwing his name out there and I don't seem to recall that Keatts was one of the many that proactively turned down the job (before an offer made/interview happened). Keatts not quite the slam dunk HOF coach that Hurley is ... but given what we've seen over the last seven years, he likely would not have been fired ... and maybe would have had his odds defying run at Georgetown. On Hurley, I 100% agree Georgetown should have absolutely interviewed him at minimum. There is no way that John Thompson was going to allow that to happen, which is in part why it did not happen, and I lay blame for that on DeGioia. DeGioia had a lot of respect for John Thompson and a long history with him. There's nothing wrong with that, of course, but when it came to making decisions in the best interest of the program, I think DeGioia failed miserably on that score in 2017. As far as Keatts, I do know a lot of people here wanted him in 2017. But let's slow our roll. This is another illustration of how the NCAA tournament really warps views of reality. There is absolutely no doubt that Keatts has had a spectacular ACC tournament and NCAA tournament, and I give him all the credit for that. But, before this run, there was talk of Keatts being on the hot seat. Keatts has been at best an okay coach at NC state. His teams, starting in 2018, have been ranked 46, 41, 50, 71, 128, 52, and 43 this year (much of that due to the recent run). So basically, aside from 2022, Keatts has had his teams being not horrible but outside the bubble for the most part. Only two tournament appearances in 7 seasons. I am glad for him and his success. I just think if Georgetown hired Keatts, and in his first 5 seasons he did not make the tournament, fans would have been extremely displeased. And unlike Ewing, Keatts would have been good enough to avoid being fired. We don't know if Keatts is a legit long-term upper level coach, or if he joins the list of one hit FF wonders that includes Mike Davis, JT3, Tom Crean, Kevin Ollie and a few others. But I'd like to be NCSU right about now.

Wild talk today at trilly regarding our coaching situation. Likely just PC trolls but it’s being discussed as a quasi-real thing.
