I saw tweets on Casual that Ryan is not going to pre- announce his announcement. Definitely a Hoya mindset.

The important thing here is that Ryan chooses the Hoyas. Whatever happens after that is icing. Be the cake Ryan! Be The Cake! Love it.

Plan B. Plan C. Plan D.
The staff is putting in the work across the board. No reason to be confused.

If Brandon enters the transfer portal after a year or two, I wonder if the tone of the board suddenly changes??🤔

Good points. The fact is that pretty much every freshman big man who has to play a lot of minutes is going to have foul issues; they are adapting to the speed of the college game, and also to playing against other talented and athletic big men every night, something they don't face often in high school.
If any coach can teach an athletic big man to harness his ability and play intimidating defense without fouling, it is the current head Hoya.

You never know what opportunities present themselves down the road. No need to burn any bridges in these times of Transfer Mania.

Just a tangential observation: we’ve spent time at various East coast beaches this summer, from North Carolina to New England, and I’ve been amazed at the amount of Villanova gear I’ve seen all over the place. I’ve seen maybe one Georgetown hat. Obviously furthest thing from scientific but these are brands going in very different directions in the public’s eye. This is a direct result of the slide to irrelevance that JT3 allowed to happen at the dawn of the new conference, and Villanova’s simultaneous rise to elite status. Here’s hoping the recent momentum can start to shift that balance back a bit. If the last two years of JT3's time at Georgetown were a slide to irrelevance, how are we describing the past 3 seasons? We had just started the climb back up the slide - when we lost our footing and slid back down. Now we are starting that slow climb again.

It seems pretty clear that the staff is still working hard and staying on '21 recruits, so they are not holding a scholarship indefinitely for Ryan.

Not only is this board unfortunately filled with posts that would certainly concern me as a recruit it is also filled with so much ridiculous speculation and demonstrative statements. Most likely from people who have absolutely no idea but feel compelled to express the absolute views. Yes I know everyone is entitled to an opinion. Unfortunately even if It only hurts the cause. The Social Media Generation. Whatever you think is the real and only truth, and needs no qualification. Anyone who cares to disagree - even with facts or logic to support their position - is a reprehensible moron.

4 year degree in 3 years.
Georgetown kind of academic commitment!
Congratulations Mr. Carey from a Hoya fan who lives 5 minutes from Siena, I know how hard you had to work.

It is an unknown, agreed. My point was that you can't simply suggest that we should not "waste time" recruiting 5 stars because it means we will miss out on local kids that we otherwise would get, because you just don't know.

Please keep updating on Murray. He will be a player, although we did everything we could to be positioned for him to commit and he did not, for whatever reason, so our chances may not be that great.
As for your indignation regarding our recruiting 5 stars, I disagree. As RB said, there may be no more than a sliver of a chance that any of them will actually pick Georgetown. But:
1. As RB also said, players right now are on occasion picking schools that would normally seem to have no real shot at them, for various reasons;
2. Our staff is putting in the time on all levels. I have not seen any proof that including 5 stars has caused us to miss out on any recruits solely because we did not have enough time available to recruit them as hard as was needed to get them to commit;
3. I feel that every time a 5 star includes us in their final 10, or 8, or 5, it could very well cause some 4 stars to think that although our program has not generally been worth consideration lately, we must have something worth considering if a 5 star remains interested.

So can the decline be traced to a single event or series of events/choices, or was it an inevitable downward trend given the way the school runs the program and how college hoops has changed down the years? I don't think contact tracing is possible at this point. We have a winner!🏆
