Soon we can change course from "It is a black mark on our recruiting if we can't even bring in a legacy recruit" to "it is a black mark on our recruiting that we use a scholarship on a kid just because he is a legacy when there are plenty of better recruits out there we should be prioritizing".

Why? Dumb move if true. I think all the college players want to participate in the Disney Bubble having watched the NBA do it. And college players would appreciate the amenities and special treatment at Coronado Springs (except for UK), etc much more than NBA millionaires. Travel from Florida back into DC is subject to a 14 day quarantine. This may also capsize a home game with West Virginia since WVU isn't going to take a 14 day break to play. This. Obviously the WVa issue could resolve before the scheduled date, but if not, game won't happen.

Just another indication that no one but (possibly?) Ryan knows where he stands.

Hope he gets at least one big moment like his brother did. Double-double in garbage time when we blow out Syracuse this year.ย Amen๐

Let's not become personally offended because a high school kid is uncertain exactly what he wants to do, and is taking his time to consider all of his options. Baldwin hasn't decided, Mohammed hasn't decided. We don't excoriate them because they have not jumped at the Hoya offer yet. If Ryan ends up a Hoya, welcome to him. If not, have a good career (unless he plays against the Hoyas of course). Those guys arenโt legacies at Georgetown or centers with the opportunity to learn from Ewing. If Ryan wanted to be at Georgetown, we would know by now. He has moved on. So should we. But why should we know by now? Because his father is a Hoya legend he is not allowed to take time and consider his options like the others are?

Nalcolm Wilson was selected as one of two student-athletes to serve on the NCAA D-1 steering Committee. Congratulations to Malcolm! Go Hoyas! That speaks very highly for a young man who is only a sophomore. He clearly realizes that his future is not just about 8 pounds of air.

They have dark orange or red-orange skin with hair that is red-brown to dark gray.[21] Their training has given them a proficiency with a multitude of weapons and armor. They are the strategic thinkers in the goblinoid race and hold an extreme hatred for elves. Their cavalry is known to ride worgs.[21] The hobgoblin fears cowardice more than dying. They start becoming soldiers the minute they can start walking. They have a high military standard, but they are not just a military. They have farms, traditions, and they build. However, under all of this, they are brutal and have "little space for joy or leisure in their lives" versus a giant creature of yellowish-green complexion with thin, ropey limbs that end in savagely hooked claws. They have sharply pointed facial features, and walk with a hunched, loping gait, somewhere between a chimp and a humanoid. Credit the dungeonsdragons.fandom.com/wiki for the above descriptions. I suspect clearly the later! I took Frazier Fanatic's comment as alluding to a line from Emerson's Self-Reliance Verily.

Based on roster and recruits we have coming in what do you guys think is the biggest need we have right now? New coaches Gotta give you credit for consistency. Then again, there is that whole hobgoblin thing.

The bolded part is definitely true. But, I think that's the point. There is no expectation that the staff is going to pull in a somewhat random top 100 recruit. I mean, even the best recruiting programs still whiff on a lot of important targets. From the perspective of not getting one player, it's not a big deal. However, it is a big deal in the sense that (a) Georgetown has always stressed its tight family, (b) Dikembe Mutombo is part of that family and has always been (and still is) a big cheerleader for Georgetown, and (c) we basically have every advantage in recruiting Ryan, and we might miss out on him anyway. I think that last part is the driver of sentiment here. As I stated earlier in the thread, if we cannot pull in a guy like Ryan, with all the advantages we have, how are we going to fare recruiting other top 100 guys with no preexisting connection to Georgetown? I think people are more upset about how it reflects on the program as a whole - it is about more than recruiting one top 100 center. I also think this would matter less, if we didn't just lose an entire recruiting class to transfers and have such a big turnover this past year. I think in the case of Ryan it is the same as say landing D.C. kids. Sometimes your best advantage is also the thing that makes it impossible to land certain recruits in particular. In the case of legacy recruits, some guys no matter what just don't want to follow in their dad's footsteps no matter what you do. Similarly sometimes local kids no matter what you do want to get away from home. I respect those kids for making those tough decisions, but I don't think it's as simple as we should've landed Ryan because he's a legacy when arguably the reason we didn't land him is BECAUSE he's a legacy.ย Exactly. It says nothing about our recruiting. IF it turns out that way, it is solely because Ryan wants to play outside the shadow of his father. Of course even at Tennessee, every broadcast will include references to his father.

Meh, the "expert" may just be speculating based solely on the fact that Ryan has not committed to Georgetown already.

So if he decommits - or if he has a strong freshman season but then decides to transfer closer to home - you don't think the staff would at least touch base with him?

Saw an article on a Philly sports site discussing a dozen different possibilities for the sixers job. Patrick was not among them. So while this August in particular is the college basketball fan forums version of golf's "silly season", let's not get too worked up about this.
