This new world of college basketball is testing my resolve to remain a college basketball fan. Every year is unrestricted free agency. Amen. You can't root for players any more, you just root for the jersey.

Already 1 transfer and more than last likely 2-3 more. Nobody going to stay here. The school or students or community cares. This is not ever going to be better. No home stadium to play in says a lot. This team under Cooley didn’t even play defense. Inexcusable. Nobody can win here mark it down nobody can win here. It’s just irrelevant and no one give a damn about the basketball program. Just shut it down and forget it. Never change same garbage year after freaking year. Sick of this mess. Sounds like it is time for you to find yourself a new, relevant team to root for so you are not sick any more.

Players will not delay entering the portal just to play in the NIT; rumors are that Syracuse opted out because they will lose so many players they would have to give big minutes to walk-ons to play in the NIT.

Well we could lose every conference game and our first round BET game. Nah, never happen. not with our notoriously soft OOC scheduling I said every conference game - I am not THAT shell-shocked!

I mean you can absolutely make that argument about the coaching itself, and I agree that you need some sort of continuity to build a program, but our problem was mostly a talent one this year. Hands down. So in year two, he's building with the future with the frosh coming in, but he better be swinging for the fences in the portal and not guarantee anyone a spot. Period. We can nitpick the in game coaching if we're on par or higher than others talent wise; right now just get me dudes who can ball and have a motor. The top issue for the team was defense, the roster had enough talent to be a top 175 to 150 defense. The stats show the defensive metrics changed a lot when Fielder was on the floor instead of Cook. As horrible as this season has been we have to remember most of the minutes went to players who never played major minutes at this level with that in mind I think there could be nice jumps from some of them next season. All I read before the season started was how Cooley was in it for the long haul, now 7 months later I'm reading a lot of tear-it-down posts. Fan bases rarely have the patience for a long haul! (especially after 6 or 7 years of mostly painful results)

Claude would be great if he were playing against Georgetown's 2023-24 defense every game. I think that I might be great, even at 66 playing against our 2023-24 defense! 😎

Another chance to damage a resume. I dream of the day when we can worry about someone damaging OUR resume😠

Yes, in my usual Section 101 seats. Best travel fans from opposition is UConn IMHO. Creighton and even SJU (relative to the storied history between the teams) the worst. Went to every home game last year as well as this year. Total Cap One conference victories: 4 in two years. Ugh. Will Coach Cooley send me another autographed basketball?? I didn't get a ball and I was there. I got 5 people to fill our 9 seats. The guy holding the Friars license plate in my section (VA plates) was insufferable. His wife kept grabbing him. Who brings a license plate to a game? We had Provy fans behind us too who were frankly pretty knowledgeable about their program & players. Not overly angry individges but there are a lot of them in that fan base. They are the scorned lovers. The ex spouses who were cheated on. They are taking this to the grave and won't change their stripes anytime soon. It is going to make it really fun when we are consistently beating them again and they are an afterthought. One would think that right now Provy fans would see themselves as the ex-spouse whose husband left to go live in a van down by the river with the toothless unemployed meth addict with 4 underdeveloped brats under the age of 6.

I have a couple of Syracuse friends and they don’t seem bothered at all that mintz might be leaving. His stats are impressive but I haven’t watched him much. Is this just preemptive sour grapes on their part or is he a locker room issue? Locker room issue - he's basically a bigger Epps with some different strengths/weaknesses, but both guys are ball dominant and I can't imagine them playing in the same backcourt together. I'd steer clear of him, surprised Cooley would want him. Well if you don't want him, then obviously he would make us significantly better. Go get him Hoyas!¡

Hoyas 15.5 point ‘dogs. Over/under 140.5 Take the Hoyas and the over. Cooley is a far superior coach to Neptune. *yawn*

"winnable" is unfortunately just a theoretical term when it comes to our 2023-24 Georgetown Hoyas.

For all his failings this season, Cooley has actually been pretty good about NOT throwing his players under the bus. But sometimes, especially when they have failed to listen over and over again, it's time. He didn't name any names. But they know who they are. And maybe, just maybe, this gets them to listen.

Another night of low- to mid-major basketball from our team. Another night to realize that a well-coached team gets better as the season goes on. We may actually have gotten worse, at the very least are no better than Day 1.

Ma'am, this is a Wendy's - this is the Marquette thread. 2017 called. It wants its joke back. When it is spot on, age does not matter😎

Keep fighting. Fewer sloppy turnovers If we can't play defense effectively, at least play it with intensity . Play a little better each game.

Will he get a standing "O" upon introduction. More likely to involve a "U"

Meh, he was sending a message to his team. And his assistants will watch the tape and meet with him. That was just coachspeak.

Even with years of work on and off the court, to me Ryan has never lost that "baby giraffe" look - tall, gangly, but just not quite moving smoothly. Yes he can run the court, but mostly because of his long legs. His moves at both ends still seem awkward and just deliberate enough to keep him from being consistently effective. He has a moment here and there, but then gets blown by on defense, outmuscled on a rebound, loses the ball on offense. After all these years it is not just a matter of needing more playing time to be comfortable. And I love Ryan, his enthusiasm, support for his teammates - not to mention that he will do great, great things down the road that have nothing to do with basketball.

Yes but Cooley is teaching them correctly. He said 2 feet in the paint and they collapse look to the wing for the kick out. Swain was late but at that point Styles was in his vision as he turned the corner. I don't mind the shot but Swain is such an athlete, it's going to be a tough look. I'm fine with the shot but you can go all hero ball when you've been cooking playing one way all game. Gotta kick it to Styles there. A good team makes that pass and gets a warm up jumper to win. That’s not in Heaths game. He’s not a point and he doesn’t kick on dribble penetration. The times I’ve seen him kick he passes it right to the defender or a horrible pass over the intended receivers head. If he had tried to pass off the penetration it likely is a horrible turnover and we don’t even get a shot attempt off. I’ve seen enough of him to know what he can and can’t do. Given that his successful passing out of dribble penetration is a low percentage on top of the three also being a lower percentage, the drive for the 2 (for the win) or to the foul line is a much better choice for this particular player. If it was Epps, then the kickout for the three is also an option. Except that an off-balance shot falling away from the basket , even 3-4 feet away, is not his game either. As we saw.
