Dan my friend you are clearly the jinx. Please let someone else start the next game thread!!π Proximity to Orangeville has clearly turned your brain to mush, my friend. Sadly I cannot deny thisπ

Losers gonna lose. How does a team with so many young players actually get WORSE between November and February? They are playing better teams in February and young players tend to hit a wall. But how does that explain deteriorating fundamentals?

You are only embarrassing yourself. Iβd just stay away. What do you want coach to do?Β You want him to trade some players for some better players? He recruited them. He coaches them. If they aren't good enough to win, it's on him.

EDIT: This sounded worse then I meant it to. I did not mean to demean the players, they are trying (although making far, far too many silly and sloppy mistakes). My intended point was that a program gets used to losing and adopts that mentality - the team just waits for the implosion to happen every night, and once it starts they just deflate. You can feel it game after game.

I have to think the incredibly senseless turnovers - players getting the ball just pulled out of their hands, passes to nothing but air, guys having balls pass through their hands like they were ghosts - are a clear sign that we are tanking to make sure we get the #1 pick in the draft this summer.

One of these days we are bound to be hot while our opponent is cold. We keep saying this but it ain't happened yet.

Love his attitude and his energy. You can see the talent and the great potential.
Hit those weights hard. And you might want to stick that jump shot back in the holster until next season, after you have had an off season to work on it!π

11 years. Thanks to God, his doctors, and the love and support of family and friends including the members of this Board, Harry is 16 years old, loving school, running cross-country and broadcasting Prep sports. He is happy, healthy and wants to be a pediatric oncologist so βI can help kids like they helped meβ. God is truly good. HARRY SAXA Harry and all of your family deserve all the blessings and goodness that have come your way 'vadi. Harry Saxa indeed.

I know I started this thread, out of increasing frustration, depression, agony - but I desperately hope these young men, and the staff, keep working and put a handful of wins together. I would hate to have them saddled with a no-win season on the record books. The players are fine young men trying their best within their abilities. The staff works equally hard - although I agree that it is distasteful for Patrick to criticize individual players and rarely acknowledge any failure on his part.
Let's get off the schneid against the Johnnie's.

It's a simple issue. When you are a program with a winning atmosphere you have confidence that you will make winning plays. When you are a program with a losing atmosphere you make desperate plays in the wild hope they will somehow succeed and help you win.
Losing breeds losing. That's where we are right now. Not gonna change this season. Starting to seem clear that only seismic shifts can change the atmosphere.

Eh, not a big deal. People on here think you can magically full court press every play but you have to be able to score to press. And personnel wise we have a hole in the press with Dante since he lacks height and length so it's not as effective as it could be if you had 6-5/6-6 guys across the board. The press did get us in position to win, unfortunately we squandered a lot of offensive opportunities to close the deal. Dante more than makes up for his lack of height and length in the press with his quicks. This was a complete team loss. No single coach or player deserves more blame than anyone else. Things did not click when they could have. Keep the faith, and maybe show some respect for the fellas. It's not hard It gets hard when your team plays poorly every game and is a doormat in the conference. I respect the effort of the players but not the results.

Saw nothing tonight to change my mind. Poor fundamentals, poor decisions, poor basketball sense. A team with our very limited talents can't get outhustled game after game.

Someone needs to muzzle this guy. Do you know how awful that sounds? He's the guardian of a player on the team, not a dog. There's no responsibility for people to be on Patrick Ewing's message. Yeah "muzzle" was a weird term. Social media is what it is. That said, one would think Aminu might suggest to his guardian that comments like that can do no good, and might foster some resentment among some of the other players who support their coach and are doing their best for him.

The good news is that now a Georgetown game cures COVID. But is the cure worth the suffering one must endure??

Some positive thoughts: 1. Georgetown has some good underclassmen that need care and feeding. Two years from now, I want to see Dante Harris, Collin Holloway, and Kobe Clark get a Senior Day they (and we) can be proud of. I want to see Jalin Billingsley and Ryan Mutombo in the starting lineup, even if they struggle. I want Jordan Riley not to lose hope. The college careers of our grad transfers end in seven weeks and it may be time for them to pass the torch and serve a role as a reserve or 1st man off the bench to support those who will succeed them. An M.A. from Georgetown University is a remarkable opportunity which will suit them well. 2. I think Coach Orr has done a solid job in the last two games as befitting his tenure and experience. He's not the future, but this game wasn't lost in the huddle. 3. There's a lot going on at Georgetown and even in a poor season, basketball doesn't get elevated as much as people think when you're trying to run a $1.4 billion corporation who will always be behind the endowment curve by the simple time value of money. If it does get elevated, however, it should be forward-looking and not punitive. 4. People need to be positive. For all our back and forth on this board, this is still the place for people who care. The people who don't care are long gone. I have always been positive about the young men who work hard - on and off the court - at Georgetown. This is probably the first time I have ever found it so hard to be. The product on the court, the senseless mistakes, the lack of tangible improvement just make it so hard.

It seems that the only positives are little two steps forward/one step back for the younger role players, which are not enough to effect outcomes. Halfway into the season we are the same group we were on Day 1.

I have been a Hoya fan for 43 years. Plenty of ups, and my share of downs.
I have never seen such a disjointed, disinterested, broken and too often selfish unit. I don't see how we win a Big East game. Maybe if Rice goes 9 of 10 from three some night. Not even sure if that would be enough.
