I expect we will need a good defensive performance to keep this game competitive. Our games against Providence frequently seem to be physical games often decided by defense. Providence is a good team but inconsistent. They beat UCONN and Seton Hall yet got blown out by Marquette much like we did. If we can play better defense than we have so far and shoot well, we could play a competitive game.

I will settle for competent defense and meaningful picks and an indication from the ball handler that they know how to use the pick.

I know that Providence's last game was postponed because of COVID. Does anybody else have more knowledge of their program to know whether this will be a problem for our game? Since our game is still on I assume not. Hopefully we get to play.

Missing practice time and conditioning are issues for every team when they end up going through a COVID pause. Providence may deal with it better than some teams because they do have a deep veteran group of players this year, that should be able to call on past experiences to help them get through that lack practice time.

The good news is that now a Georgetown game cures COVID.

The good news is that now a Georgetown game cures COVID. Not so sure about that - a home loss to Georgetown would be devastating to a team like Providence’s at large NCAA hopes. Every team in the Big East would benefit by not even playing Georgetown, with the potential exceptions of Butler and DePaul, who are unlikely to make the Tournament.

The good news is that now a Georgetown game cures COVID. But is the cure worth the suffering one must endure??

Very interesting. Kids at Georgetown get Covid, damn near wipe out half the team and so call fans of the program are making a mockery of the situation posting comments like DC has Covid but Chicago doesn't have Covid as badly implying that the Hoya players shouldn't be sick because the Depaul Blue Demons are not sick. They use this to further dig into Ewing. But here is a story in Providence where obviously the Friar kids have gotten sick and the sickness has depleted their roster just like it did ours. I hear no peep from these hypocrites about this fact. Why? Because it is a narrative to use against Ewing implying that Ewing is not a good coach in spite of the fact he has years of coaching experience. The team is not performing well but yet doing the best that they can given the extenuating circumstances of Covid. These so called Hoya fans are just plain evil. They remind of the right in politics with their fake outrage trying to stir up their base to meet an agenda (the agenda being, in this case, get rid of Ewing). Some of these fake fans even believe that they somehow got some pull over the Georgetown administration because some of them donate a few pennies to the school. But can they top this? atlantablackstar.com/2014/08/26/patrick-ewing-contributes-3-3-million-donation-georgetown-athletic-center/ Ewing's contribution (which was with Falk) to the TAC is obviously great, and I am sure much appreciated. But, if you're going to say this, it's fair game to note that at an average of close to $3 million a year, Ewing, after five years, will have earned about $15 million from Georgetown. So, if we are going to count coins, the coffers strongly weigh in Ewing's direction no matter how you slice it. Also, what does this have to do with Providence?

Wasn’t his donation before he became head coach?

The numbers over five years don’t lie, things are real bad right now. League finishes, various offensive & defensive metrics and player turnover. Right now, the future doesn’t look any brighter. I’ve been a fan since 1983.

Given that you’re demonizing people that disagree with you, the political comment you threw in there adds up 👍

Ewing is reportedly doing a media session (via zoom) tomorrow - so hopefully this means he is doing OK health-wise

I cant comment anymore, but this thread of thought by so many characters (fans) is disgusting beyond words, but they have the right to express themselves. Winning would cure it all and shut them down, except that they are critical even when we win...

I'm predicting a Hoyas victory. With a depleted Providence roster and Patrick Ewing matched up vs. Ed Cooley, this one should be put in the W column.
