Well at least people are still paying attention to Georgetown, I guess there's that. And if you're Thomas Sorber, I would assume you know that you signed up for this. College hoops "pundits" are are weird group. Gotta get those views though. People should pay attention to Georgetown Basketball as an ongoing cautionary tale about what happens when an entire University remains enthralled with a deceased leader who last had big success 40 years ago.

Godspeed. Probably nailing a half court buzzer beater in a heavenly pickup game right now… Great clutch player and class act.

Mr Biden deserves praise for efficiency and economy.
Who else could manage to visit his son’s widow, his other son’s lover and a key prosecution witness against that son on the eve of trial in only one visit?

Harry graduated St Joe’s Prep today!
In addition to recognition for academic achievement he received the Prep Spirit Award exemplifying special qualities of leadership and commitment to the ideals and spirit of St Joseph’s Prep. The recipient of the award has earned the admiration and highest esteem of the Prep community.
When I started this thread 13 years and 4 months ago, I was not sure I would ever see this day.
What I learned, and keep learning is that my son, touched by the hand of God and supported by family, friends, educators, clergy, and HoyaTalk members can do anything.

Roy Hibbert was a non factor in his first two years and a key starter only his senior year. Dikembe was not a major contributor his freshman year but showed enormous improvement over his 4 years. Sims gave us one pretty good year. A couple of the portal candidates could have been major contributors but the two key words are couple and could. No guarantees and lots of teams with much to offer going after those few. We need to hitch our horse to Sorber like we hitched our horse to Othells and Alonzo and give him some backup so he plays reasonable minutes and if he gets into foul trouble. I think he will join the lost of great centers that played at Georgetown, but he will be greatly helped by someone that can give us a solid 15 minutes when Sorgerbis on the bench. Roy emerged late sophomore year. As I recall he played very well cs OSU in the 2nd Round of the 2006 tournament.

And we should have fought the French Army much harder for the rights to Eric Micoud…I mean how much had Big John lost his fastball? He lost a battle to France…. In hindsight, I wondered if that was all a tall tale, given that Eric Micoud played professionally for Besancon in France the year he was said to be in the army. My post was mostly tongue in cheek.

We should never have let David Edwards and Eric Myles transfer. And we should have fought the French Army much harder for the rights to Eric Micoud… I mean how much had Big John lost his fastball? He lost a battle to France….

Good. Those who defy Subpoenas from Congress should be prosecuted.

I usually echo 'vad's Dead To Me sentiment for players who leave. But I will be rooting for Ryan, an outstanding example of a student athlete who will do incredible things off the court. That Dead to Me never applies to graduates.

So at what point do we question the huge NIL war chest we have? Tough to view the portal season so far as an overall upgrade. Things haven’t worked out much better for St John’s w/ their HOF coach and Vitamin Water NIL funds… Bottom line is it’s not always the money (assuming it’s close). The deterioration of the program and potentially the hit Cooley’s reputation has taken, can’t be solved with money alone. Now it’s up to the staff to earn their $ by developing the kids on the roster and getting the whole to be more than the sum of the parts. Well said. Unless the money is orders of magnitude more, why does any big time talent looking for exposure join GU? We are, as currently constituted, a punchline and cautionary tale. I am willing to watch Ed Cooley rebuild us to something more and do not expect it overnight.
