I can tell you what is wrong with him, he did not box out on the last play in regulation. He was just standing there. He was not standing there. He had Kelan Martin completely boxed out. This not boxing out meme needs to be put to bed. Jesse came out to successfully contest the three which was the right play - he closed out well and the shot missed by a bunch. That left three Hoyas against four Butler players. Three Hoyas, including Marcus boxed out their men. The fourth, Jesse's man, made a great tip-in.

Best case for Blair is that he winds up like a Roosevelt Jones on recent Butler teams, putting up way more points than you'd think with a lot of scoops and floaters. If he adds a consistent 3-point shot, that's a solid asset for the team. Jahvon shot the 3 well this summer and is currently shooting 42% from 3. How much more consistent is he supposed to be?

Am I just being cynice here, or did Ben Standing want to cover the PK80 in person?

I would have loved to have seen this young man in a Hoya uniform, he would have made the next two seasons exciting, but in the end like Iverson, there would be no BE championship banners nor any sweet sixteen appearances. Iverson as great a talent as he was, required JT2 to give up a lot of the control of how the team ultimately played. Maybe it is better that this present Hoya team remain under Ewing’s control for a while before he relinquish control to the Benny and the jets show. Allen Iverson made the Sweet 16 as a freshman and the Elite 8 as sophomore.

The schedule is a joke. I somewhat understand why Ewing went that route and I'm somewhat sympathetic. But it is not only gonna bite us in terms of prep and being able to gauge, it will also make getting to the NCAA tourney almost impossible even if the team turns out better than expected. Question: Is getting to the NCAA Tournament this season as a #12 or #13 seed and getting blown out in the first round all that much better than not making the NCAA Tournament at all? I'm fine with tempering expectations this season, and not worrying about whether the Hoyas are playing after the Big East Tournament championship game has been played. Hey, we might win. Historically, lower seeds have done well in our NCAA games.

Jahvon Blair reminds me of Charles Smith as he goes into the lane. Herky JerKY with a bunch of hesitation and a lot of midrange soft junk. Scorer.

LiAngelo's dad did claim that his son would lead the nation in steals.

They're playing a monument? I hear they’re big, but very little lateral mobility. They have a lot of experience but have been "dead" to Elvado for a while.

Except that was the idea behind signing for 1 year / $15M with the Magic last year, then he turned in statistically one of the worst seasons in the NBA last year and ended up signing for the vet minimum this year. If he wants one last chance to chase a ring as a rotation player, then that's great. But Green's a 30 year old on the decline who never lived up to his potential. Nah, I'm going with Jeff is not a leader, Orlando sucked, he'll be a lot better surrounded by 3 great players and he'll secure a multi-yr deal after helping the Cavs to a championship, becoming the first Hoya to win the NBA championship since... Jaren? Zo got a championship with the Heat.

We have lured coach Pete Bell away from the Western University Dolphins??? It's Steve Lavin. You have earned a special place in hell for that suggestion.

As a 27 time Big East Coach of the Year, wouldn't Mike Brey be the logical choice?

More seriously for the university, if DeGioia was overruled on this, it's hard to think he is long for his own position. The fact that Jack was overruled on this one issue will not have any impact on his tenure. There are a lot more important things than basketball at GU.

Hearing Amaker from the inside I would be unalterably opposed to a Duke retread.
