We should not recruit anyone who wears bowling shoes to play hoops.

Tough to beat a team 3x? That bodes well for our matchup with Xavier and beyond.

How about a rule outlawing stepping off the line and exchanging hand slaps with teammates after made (or missed) free throws? I mean, when you think about it, does either outcome really merit congratulations? Penalty is you don't get to shoot the next one.

My mistake. Greg is the SJU assistant. Gary is his father. Corrected.

There are many things to like about the team under Ewing. One thing, though, that concerned many from the outset, was end game strategy. That concern was borne out by a disproportionate number of close losses. I have previously suggested that this team needs an assistant coach who is a strategist/tactician. Many teams have them.
Last night St. John's was down 5 with the ball. In the huddle the man with the board furiously drawing up a play (which was subsequently perfectly executed for a wide open 3) was Greg St. Jean. The head coach stood off to the side. St. Jean is the son of an NBA coach and was an outstanding college basketball player.........at Wesleyan. Chris Mullin should be admired for having the confidence and humility to enlist that kind of help for the good of his team.

Even if De Paul moved back up to 9 by beating Xavier that would move Villanova back to 1 and make them the second round opponent. Now is not the time to be intimidated by a 9th place finisher.

I've noticed recently that before you get to one and one a defensive foul merely results in the offense maintaining possession with no new shot clock. It seems that the fouling team can benefit by bumping the offense when the clock is winding down although admittedly this would not typically take place in a critical situation as teams are usually in the bonus by then.

The idea of no more 1 and 1s is terrific. If it comes with quarters for some reason, then I guess that is a means to an end. I'll take it. The 3 point line should already be moved out. Hopefully that is an easy decision in May 2019 when the current rules are up for change. Derrickson salivating.

You think one and one is bad? Non shooting fouls used to get you one shot.....throughout the game.

A few more media times out should be added. We don't have nearly enough of them.

You must shade a second player to Brunson. He keeps his dribble alive, likes to go to the rack and, incidentally, often drags his pivot foot when posting up.

Can't ever recall hoping for an NIT berth...but it's not impossible the way we've been playing. We are in most every game down to the final minute. 1970. We were happy to get the bid. Jack Magee volunteered to play LSU and Maravich in the first round (All games were in the Garden). We lost a close one. Marquette and Dean Meminger won it. Al McGuire had said "Thanks but no thanks" to the NCAA because he did not like their region/seeding. Only Al.

You can't have Dickerson dribbling 30ft. from the basket with 10 on the shot clock.

Pretty good play they drew up. Correction: not drew up; it had been practiced.
