Looking less likely we need to follow these this year, but 4 experimental changed this year:
1. Three point line moved back to international distance.
2. Lane widened to 16 foot NBA width.
3. Four 10 minute quarters (mirrors the current womens' game).
4. After offensive rebound shot clock resets to 20 instead of 30.

How do the fouls work in the 10 minute quarters? Do they still have the 1 and 1? Getting rid of that would be terrific.

For the women, everything after 4 fouls in a quarter is 2 shots. Fouls reset after each quarter.

Can you imagine how many play stoppages will ensue from mistaken shot clock resets after offensive rebounds?

A few more media times out should be added. We don't have nearly enough of them.

I don't like the idea of quarters, but I would be happy with getting rid of the one-and-one, and simply giving two shots at 8 shots (or 9 or 10).

The idea of no more 1 and 1s is terrific. If it comes with quarters for some reason, then I guess that is a means to an end. I'll take it.
The 3 point line should already be moved out. Hopefully that is an easy decision in May 2019 when the current rules are up for change.

I've always thought that the ability to intentionally foul at the end of games to extend games is just goofy. You play an entire game where that doesn't happen and you've built a six point lead or something after 39 minutes, and then it all goes to heck because the other team intentionally violates a rule. Seems odd to reward that.
I'd be fine going to just two shots. I also don't mind the old 3 for 2 rule that I don't think anyone uses anymore. Same concept as the 1 and 1, but if you miss the first, you still got a chance to make the second in order to get a third shot. And if you make the first, you get two chances to make a second one.
Or I've seen some youth leagues that have a rule I like where after you commit a certain really high number of fouls (12, for example) in a half, the team that got fouled gets a choice: Either take the traditional double bonus or shoot one technical foul shot and retain possession of the ball. I kind of like that. If you've really gone overboard with the fouling you reach a point where it gets very hard to use it to successfully extend a game.

You think one and one is bad? Non shooting fouls used to get you one shot.....throughout the game.

I've noticed recently that before you get to one and one a defensive foul merely results in the offense maintaining possession with no new shot clock. It seems that the fouling team can benefit by bumping the offense when the clock is winding down although admittedly this would not typically take place in a critical situation as teams are usually in the bonus by then.

A few more media times out should be added. We don't have nearly enough of them. And unlimited replay reviews during the first and last 20 minutes of the game.

Which will undoubtedly lead to even more bad calls in every game as they invariably never have a camera on an angle to show why the ball started spinning in a new direction while the opponents players hand was near the ball.

How about a rule outlawing stepping off the line and exchanging hand slaps with teammates after made (or missed) free throws? I mean, when you think about it, does either outcome really merit congratulations? Penalty is you don't get to shoot the next one.
