Just so we are clear on how ridiculous this all is: a president would be able to commit any crime he or she wishes, find out who would vote to impeach or convict them and have those congresspeople assassinated, and would be able to get off freely for all crimes, including the subsequent assassinations, because he or she wasn’t impeached and convicted. The fact that the Supreme Court is even entertaining this is proof of some justices being deeply compromised. So who doesn’t get killed in a second Trump presidency? Elvado?

Expect this to settle quickly.... I am not sure college sports survive. There are already 24/25 year old college seniors. If they can’t regulate how long players are eligible then it just becomes a pro league. It’s getting really stupid.

Let’s all be honest. This isn’t “college” basketball anymore. It’s some weird minor league thing with 5/6 years of eligibility and almost zero restraints to movement of players. Can APR even be tracked in this environment? The real question is whether each of us can convince ourselves that it’s close enough to college basketball to keep paying attention.

I agree with this thought or idea 1000%. The 5th year has been very good for CBB. Why has it been great? Seems like just more free agency to me but would be happy to hear the counter arguments. I’m not sure the freer agency free for all will be sustainable long-term and will likely crush mid and low major programs out of existence.

Was just speaking to a college basketball coach. He tells me Villanova annual NIL budget is 3 million. Kentucky is 9 million. SEC football 22 million. It’s absolutely bonkers.

Am I out of the loop? Has Georgetown ever considered buying some of the property there given they can’t really expand beyond their current footprint in DC? Is it possible? Would be easy to connect the 2 campuses via shuttles I would think. Rosslyn is already very dense as land usage goes, so I'm not sure what people think is available-- putting aside the ongoing litigation on the Key Bridge Marriott property, older buildings have been scooped up and/or demolished (the RCA building on N. Moore St. as an example) and replaced with 20-30 story high rises with class "A" market rates. Most don't lend itself to academic or residential use. A building at 1201 Wilson recently came up for sale above the Rosslyn Metro stop. Cost: $339 million. The Capital Campus footprint is, on the surface, more strategic. Georgetown is focusing on vacant buildings and/or open blocks adjacent to the Law Center that it can renovate or build to suit. Moving more grad studies off campus won't suddenly redevelop green space but it reduces the strain on the physical plant. mccourt.georgetown.edu/closertoimpact/Thanks. I had assumed this would be an expensive proposition but folks were making it out like Rosslyn was on the down and outs (which didn’t make much sense to me).

Someday Rosslyn will be gone, and no one will believe it existed. Hopefully replaced by the new Georgetown Stadium and Accessory Campus/Entertainment complex with a high speed bullet train between campus and the complex. One can dream! Am I out of the loop? Has Georgetown ever considered buying some of the property there given they can’t really expand beyond their current footprint in DC? Is it possible? I am assuming that the fact that this incident occurred wholly within US territorial waters might make it somewhat less complicated. True?

This man and his family are out to destroy democracy. Period. Unfortunately a large portion of his supporters lack the insight to realize what they are really signing up for. The others are looking to get rich off of it. Truly disgusting. Could be agents of Stalin as much as Putin. If you aren’t doing whatever you can to prevent these people from getting into office again you are un-American. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/03/28/richard-grenell-trump-envoy-serbia-guatemala/

After paying this money for Trump, I imagine Putin will really pull out all the stops to get TFG elected. I would expect full on election hacking attempts by the GRU in addition to massive disinformation campaign in the coming months. Trump will no doubt try to rig this election.

Least surprising development. The recent explosion sports gambling in America means this is likely the tip of the iceberg. Predict we will see many additional scandals including an explosion in college sports.

Of course no one will lend Donald Trump the half-billion dollars he needs to put up while appealing his fraud case. Would you? In recent months, the former president has racked up a series of costly legal judgments for his many misdeeds. And when I say “costly,” I mean slightly pricier than the Trump-brand gold sneakers. In fact, after summing up the judgments across all of Trump’s cases so far, he already owes more than the entire gross domestic product of several island nations — put together. In the most expensive case, Trump was found liable for lying about the value of his real estate assets so he could get better terms on loans and insurance. In that judgment, he owes $464 million, after interest. He’s appealing the case, which was brought by the New York attorney general. In the meantime, a judge has said Trump must put up cash or bond to prove he’s good for the money and isn’t appealing merely to delay payment for a while. Got that? Trump owes this money because he fraudulently misrepresented the value of his assets, and now apparently no one will accept those assets as collateral. Oops. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2024/03/18/trump-civil-fraud-case-appeal-bond/Witch hunt. Come on, all of you Trump supporters, put your money where your mouth is and send some bucks to the Big Insurrectionist. Mortgage everything you have for the savior!

They just feel zero obligation to tell the truth about anything at this point because they know their friends at Faux “news” and the other right echosphere networks will never hold them to account (And yes I saw the “interview” with Britt on Fox. It just facilitated more deceit)Their base is agnostic as to the fact that they are being deceived because they have been told they can never watch or trust anything else.

Poor Grifter, just posted $91.6 million bond. Wonder what surety got suckered into this bond? Federal Insurance Co. a subsidiary of Chubb Ins. Co. Which means Grifter must have some unencumbered properties as collateral. Interesting coincidence that he just met with Orban for no apparent reason.
