Am I missing something here: With three open scholarships remaining in the 2023-24 recruiting cycle, Georgetown has added a 6-8 center with an eye to For reasons unknown, the basketball office no longer announces its recruits, but Joe Tipton at On3.com once again had the scoop on 6-8 Seal Diouf, a native of the Netherlands who prepped at the Dunn School in Santa Barbara, CA. Diouf averaged 23 points and 11 rebounds at Dunn (16-10 in 2023-24), which competes at the smaller Division IV level of California high school play. A three-star recruit ranked #254 nationally, he played alongside his brother, Latif, who signed with Tennessee-Chattanooga. It's pretty bizarre. Remains pretty hard to see anything resembling a coherent plan in place. agree 100%.

You are only looking for something to criticize,. Wake up! We are significantly stronger at every position on the floor and have a bench that gives real depth. It is hard to see anything resembling reasonable commentary with the recruiting and transfer class that we are bringing in.

Idk about y’all but I’m fu(king excited for Hoya Hoops for the first time in a long time. Coach Cooley has done a tremendous job of building a foundation and we could have something really special if we retain our core moving into next year. Really excited to watch this young team grow together

I think we will surprise people this year and be competitive. I do not see this staff and team accepting anything but hard fought games and lots of wins!!!

With the last few recruiting developments, color me intrigued for the 2024-25 season. I think we have something to build on and I think a very good chance to move up the BE standings into a more competitive placement.
Nice job, Ed! We never doubted ya!

Julius is a great signing for a lot of reasons the least of which he could be really good. We will now not have to play an out of position 4 at the 4. If Cooley chooses not to start Drew or Sorber at the 4 it's because he has made a choice not because he doesn't have the option. Having Julius means Cooley can see what it looks like a true 4 plays against a guy who is not really a 4 in practice. It won't be like last year when Cooley forgot to bring in a single 4. This is huge in my opinion as he can see what actually works against real players and won't be shocked at how bad we could be come conference time. The team will have more balance. There shouldn't be any excuses now if we don't perform to at least a competitive level.

Roster might not be done. If we add one more, I hope it's a backup primary ball handler.

He is a friend of Cam Bacote. Went to Western Carolina with him. Also I believe we helped with his waiver. I think he is coming. He is a lot like Supreme Cook in his game but able to guard better. x.com/_HoyaParanoia_/status/1821343663097544849?t=A87ZX8P6v27PrA_v671mKQ&s=19That last highlight of him putting Bacot of UNC under the rim. We need to retain that energy just cause it will get Thomas better.

Roster might not be done. If we add one more, I hope it's a backup primary ball handler. The other area of potential need is rebounding. Between Mack, Epps, Mulready, and Caleb Williams (in a pinch) we should be ok with ball handling. While we have height, our ability to rebound is suspect and the opportunity to add a veteran (since we are so, so young) who can help there could be really important.

While he's not a star player, that role is probably more important than 3rd or 4th ball handler, imo. Our frontcourt is super young and it would give us at least one veteran body to help the youngsters, who may not be ready day 1.

I think opinions will vary...not arguing with a single point you just made...it's all accurate. I get worried if we were to lose Mack for any period of time we are having combo guards or I guess guys like Caleb Williams or Peavy be distributors which also worries me. Not sure which situation would be worst...frontcourt or backcourt

Your points are valid, just a difference of opinion on my end.
I think the primary ball handler role has evolved over time. Now, its all about who you put in the PNR and thats not always the PG. Some of the others are capable of bringing the ball up the court and finding whoever they want in the PNR.

Some of the others are capable of bringing the ball up the court and finding whoever they want in the PNR. I would just ideally love for Epps to forever be off the ball. I think it will do wonders for not only the team but for him and right now I assume he will be the back at PG unless Mulready is ready. Epps coming of screens, a few wide open looks...would be so great for this team. Again I don't disagree with you either I absolutely see the desire to have a veteran presence in that frontcourt and honestly just simply another veteran on the team in general

I expect a player or two to greatly exceed expectations for Ed Cooley this year.

We need to retain that energy just cause it will get Thomas better. Good overall profile especially for a depth type guy. His offensive rating was a very solid 114.4 last year, he doesn’t take a ton of shots, and he had the tenth best offensive rebound rate nationally last year (Cook was 9th). I say sign him up as long as he won’t stifle other guys’ growth.
