It’s a shame that Jay Wrights hand picked choice was blocked by that father what’s his name who was infatuated with Medicore Kyle Neptune. It all could have been so different. The deterioration in the head fakes and pivot foot skills that were second nature to Wrights players is horrifying to see. Who was the hand-picked choice Professor? Current Villanova GM Baker Dunleavy, but you already knew that didn’t you. He will probably be taking over soon as interim head coach when they fire Neptune. But Mediocre Kyle Neptune has been allowed to do so much damage to the program that it may be too late for anyone to fix. And you were completely wrong about Mediocre Kyle Neptune for all these years just like you were wrong on the Transfer rules. Maybe you should try rooting for the Hoyas for once instead of rooting for and salivating over every other team in the Big East.

If we beat Maryland in a scrimmage, there is a chance we could be pretty good… right? Same with UVA who beat Nova? If you are a perennial optimist, sure. But my lived experience is neither to over interpret Kenner league play as the measure of any player's in-season performance nor draw overly-positive inferences from results of pre-season scrimmages.

Does anyone understand why Villanova's KenPom ranking doesn't drop significantly after going 2-3 against weak competition?

I think we have as much talent as almost anyone in the Big East, although young, it just needs to develop and come together as the season goes on.

My point on Neptune has always been that he should be given a chance to get going before saying he’s a failure especially given the circumstances he was hired under. You dubbed Neptune “mediocre” due to his record at Fordahm in his one year, what would your nickname for Dunleavy have been considering his record at Quinnipiac was 86-93 Professor? I don’t buy the “President” chose Neptune narrative either, that’s CYA for Wright in my opinion seeing that he blindsided the program with his sudden retirement

Their season is basically over but the conference needs them to win against Maryland or Cincinnati for metric purposes.

Jones puts a dent in the “true” PG theory many on the board have.

Lol....so it is only predictive when we get smoked in pre-season scrimmages.

Jones puts a dent in the “true” PG theory many on the board have. Somehow when I watch him play, it doesn't feel like he is only hunting his shot which is not the case for other players. Man, that kid hardly misses from anywhere.

Even after we became Big East Tournament champion you weren’t acting happy. And your support for Cooley is lukewarm at best. Yet you will continue to parade around other Big East coaches like Mediocre Kyle Neptune, Pitino, Hurley, Shaka, Chris Holtzman, Sean Miller.

In fairness, there was a lot of evidence leading into the unlikely Big East tournament that Ewing was not a good coach. While I was thrilled with the BET win, it likely led to Ewing's extension, and likely extended his tenture before firing at least one year, which was a net negative for the program. Neptune just hasn't shown much, but the other Big East coaches you mention above have had a lot of success.

Glad to see you've moved on from your Nova conspiracy theories. As for Ewing, I was the poster who complained loudly that the administration hamstrung Ewing with a lot of Gtown centric assistant coaches when he 1st started. Why would I do that if I wasn't giving him a chance? As for Cooley I am hard on him about his lack of off-court activities which is exactly why I "parade" around the coaches you've mentioned.

Who were the "Georgetown-centric" assistant coaches? Louis Orr (Syracuse) Akbar Waheed (Niagara) Robert Kirby (UT-Pan Am) Ewing might have been better off (or perhaps no worse off, in retrospect) to bring some of his NBA colleagues with college experience in as assistants.Waheed was on the previous staff, Kirby was a former coach, the DOB had been at Gtown under JT3, the S&C guy stayed too. Pluis add in giving RT a job, that adds up to Gtown centic IMHO...
