So much for all the talk of how Pitino wasn't building for the future last season on this board. I hope this is a lesson that PT isn't always the biggest driver in retaining players.
There is one common denominator: The aforementioned programs are dealing with significant roster turnover. So many schools are in the transfer portal era. Three of its starters, Simeon Wilcher, Zuby Ejiofor and RJ Luis, are returning players. So is key reserve Brady Dunlap. They helped St. John’s get off to a strong start this week with a pair of blowout wins over Fordham and Quinnipiac by a combined 55 points.

Shaheen is in a tough spot. They are basically a minor league team that has their best players that they have taken time to develop (Khadary Richmond) poached by the big boys. It’s a shame Word is Khadary wasnt the best teammate in his time there. But yes Seton Hall has no NIL so they have no shot unless some rich alum comes thru big for them. Also very happy Garwey Dual didn't follow Cooley. Man he is limited. Can not shoot at all. I have rarely seen an incoming player get so much NBA hype only to fall so flat on his face. There were still sites predicting him as a first round pick in this upcoming LOADED draft of 2025 just a couple of weeks ago.

He is long, but I don't see what supposed NBA scouts are seeing.

Watching DePaul right now and they look seriously improved. They should get out of the basement this season. They can really shoot the ball.

Southern Indiana killed them on the inside. I dont really see that team doing much once they play high major comp.

Holtmann is an excellent coach and I think the stratgy was reasonably smart for them, but a lot of people are playing up this win because of the margin of victory and the fact that Mercer was a decent team at some point in the past. The problem is that DePaul almost lost to Southern Indiana, then blew out a LeMoyne level opponent in Prairie View and now blew out Mercer ... whose only game so far is beating Virginia Lynchburg by a ton ... but Virginia Lynchburg is a member of the NCCAA, not NCAA. National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association. We have no idea if Mercer is complete crap, either. Mercer shot 4-24 from 3. DePaul shot 68% from 2. It's such an evisceration that it is hard to take much of anything from it aside from being glad it wasn't close.

For the 1st time in years, they look like a well-coached disciplined team, especially on the offensive end of the court. Also, folks claimed the roster their staff put together was mid to low major so isn't good they're blowing out low major opponents?

In this era of basketball, a program has to have offensively skilled players
As a team, the Pirates have just two players averaging in double-figures: Jenkins at 12.5 points per game and Boston College transfer Prince Aligbe at 10.0.
It’s unclear who the go-to scorer will be down the stretch of a big game, and it could be different players on different nights.
But right now there aren’t enough offensive weapons to create easy baskets.

But I've seen some people claim they should get Top 25 votes. Just saying that people should slow their roll on that kind of thing until they play someone half decent.

I saw a good portion of the Southern Indiana game, they started off good but it went downhill quickly. Meyers hitting a last second 3 is the only reason they don't have a loss. They did take care of business in OT but they kind of remind me of our team last year and will probably be very streaky. Rivera looked good in the minutes I saw and looks like he kept that up the next two games. I don't think they will be winless again especially with the BE not being as strong but I also see them still in the basement of the BE.

DePaul isn't anywhere near a top 125 team right now, having said that they look better than usual.
